A wildlife rescue that took in what was thought was a baby hedgehog found it was actually caring for a bobble from a hat.

It was brought to the Lower Moss Nature Reserve and Wildlife Hospital by a well-meaning rescuer last week.

On arrival they discovered the hoglet was in fact a "faux furry friend", a volunteer for the animal charity said.

Drivers did a double-take when a herd of alpacas escaped from a farm and wandered across a dual carriageway, holding up traffic.

The animals were spotted on the A1307 in Cambridgeshire, near the Hemingford Abbots turn-off, at about 13:55 BST. Cathy Booty was being driven by husband Richard when they spotted "about 20-plus" alpacas in the road.

"They scarpered back off the road" when a woman got out of her car and started walking slowly towards them, she said.

Some of Joe Lycett's fake stories have now been revealed, including one about an 8ft statue of H from steps:

OK so maybe it's not *that* interesting but relevant to this thread is that the above BBC article doubles down on the accuracy of some of their more absurd recent headlines, including the bobble hat hedgehog linked a few posts back and one that we missed about Alan Titchmarsh's trousers being censored in North Korea:

County Durham priest admits he used 'inappropriate words' in shocking Good Friday sermon.

Father Thomas McHale is said to have used his sermon on Good Friday to talk about the crucifixion, but in an unusual turn, he focused on the anatomical aspects of the brutal execution and claimed that Jesus Christ would have had an erection when nailed to the cross.

Some parishioners made complaints to The Diocese of Hexham & Newcastle, who have confirmed that they have upheld a complaint into Father McHale. However, the priest has remained in his role.

One even told the Times: "He told people Jesus died with an erection. The church was shocked. There were young families there."
