The Finest Ale

PSA, beer drinkers get yourself down to Lidl as they’ve got their Oktoberfest range in. The 500ml bottles of Erdinger Oktoberfest weisbier are £1.99 and they are absolutely delicious.

They also have a 10 pack Oktoberfest Wisen-Tragerl selection box for £24.99 containing some quality German beers such as Schneider Weisse Festweisse weissbier, Hohenthanner Marzen Festbier, Hofbrau Oktoberfestbier, etc 😱

CAMRA Champion Beer of Britain 2024 announced, and the winner is... Crouch Vale Amarillo. A mighty pint for sure, and I'm lucky enough that I can smell the wort in my house when they are mashing out, and can grab a swift one on any dog walk, as its brewed abut three roards behind me and has a great tap room. Cheers!

Black Sheep Brewery event at my local Spoons, £1.99 pint. Very nice Yorkshire brewed beers such as Titanic Plum Porter, Blonde Ale, Session IPA, etc. Things like this is why I love Spoons so much.

Had some Fireside Stout (Rural Brewing Co) at the white hart in Alton village this afternoon - a really lovely coffee stout with plenty of heft to it. Annoys me they can’t sell it on park alongside laugh and scream to be honest.

You make a valid point actually. Why can’t there parks utilise local produce etc.

My wife also bought me which is at home Brew dogs 12 beers of Christmas.

I opened the Lidl Oktoberfest Beer Selection box today that I’d bought a couple of months ago and put aside to have as a Christmas treat. I had this bottle of Falter Festbier which was lovely.

However looking at the other bottles I was surprised to see a reference to Europa Park on the back of the Hofbrau bottle. The QR code seems to be a dead link but I’m guessing it’s because beer from the HB brewery was served at the park’s Oktoberfest event.

At a friend's for NYE.
"Bring your beer pump" she said.
Didn't tell me she didn't own any beer glasses, did she?

To be fair there's not always much difference between a wide wine glass and a continental beer chalice. I love my Leffe chalices that accidentally, erm, fell in to my bag after finishing my pint in 'Spoons.

Had a bottle of Schlenkerla Rauchbier last night. Never had anything like it before. Tasted like drinking a bonfire.

Supping a kiwi and lime sour in a train station taproom. Very limey and kiwi-y. Reasonably sour. Far better than my previous dip in sourtown with a pitch black lemon number that undid years of Yakult effort.
