The Thread of YouTube!

I found this great video from Intamin’s 20th anniversary, talking about the contemporary rides of the time like the Gen1 freefall tower, the stand-up and the bobsled amongst others. Really fun video to watch from my favourite (and simultaneously most infuriating) manufacturer 😂

I watched LISTERS: A Glimpse Into Extreme Birdwatching and can highly recommend it. Two brothers enter the world of birdwatching via a yearlong road trip through America. There were some very interesting parallels to roller coaster enthusiasm as well, as in the tension between attempting to see as many birds as possible in order to be at the top of certain leaderboards and how that can be in conflict with the "casual" pleasure of simply enjoying watching and discovering birds without turning it into a quantified competition.

There was also a brilliant one which was on the BBC (I think) years ago called 'Twitchers: A Very British Obsession'. I think it was aired as part of their Storyville series. There's a version on Youtube here but I think someone has uploaded it in a small size with adjusted sound to get around the copyright thing somehow and it looks a bit unwatchable. Well worth a watch if you can find a better version to download online (I think I found a download version a couple of years ago online by googling it and it was on Reddit or a forum or something as a user had provided a download link in the chat).

Edit - The download link might still be active in the chat here somewhere (take usual precautions when downloading from the internet)..... https://www.birdforum.net/threads/twitchers-a-very-british-obsession.421046/

P.S - I'm definitely gonna watch that Listers documentary you shared @Llama. I love documentaries like this.

Watched this today and it was really good. Can't believe it's the guys first Youtube video too! I do prefer the British doc about twitching I mentioned above, but I find this one is almost as good. Thanks for the suggestion to watch it. Let us know if you find any more docs that are worth looking at 🙂👍

Glad you enjoyed it! I wish I had more to recommend along these lines, this one showed up in my Youtube algorithm and then a friend mentioned it separately so I checked it out. Really incredible for a first-time work that I believe was entirely crowdfunded and then released ad-free. I'll check out the other documentary as well, I was able to find a normal version via the links you posted
