In honor of the ever present British obsession with snow and the fact its closed a certain theme park somewhere in the Staffordshire moorlands, we decided to showcase some rare shots of inside the Ice Age Rooms in Splash Landings Hotel.

Me myself i think these actually look really well done, just a shame they are out of my price range.

I was very impressed with the quality of this room, it far surpassed my expectations. It is totally immersive and there are some really nice theming details.

They really show up the Moon Voyager rooms too.

I'm not sure about that. After going in both last weekend there wasn't much to choose between them. The details are brilliant in both rooms.

:)

I find myself agreeing with Rob, there is not much to choose between them, both are fantastic rooms, and although the Ice Age rooms come in at roughly £100 more than the Moon Voyager, it does include a private parking space, and Ultimate Fast Pass(Each Ride Once, Please double check when booking) which could make it even better value.

Either way, both rooms are finished to a high standard, and are as good as similar priced rooms at Theme Parks around the world.

The photos, as fantastic as they are, do not do the rooms justice, and I would recommend anyone to book one of these rooms if they want to have a special night at Alton Towers.

Whoa... hold up... you mean for an extra £100.00 bucks I can bypass that agonising 60 second trek from the hotel car park?! Freakin sweet!

What surprises me most is how (until now) little info and pictures of these rooms there are available, even on the AT website they've only got one tiny picture - mores the pity, they look brilliant.

Next time your at Alton Towers, have a look in the car parks for the hotels, and you will see some spaces with name boards. I am talking about these, and yes, its something silly and minor, but it does make you feel half special when your name on it.

My opinion on these rooms is that they look great but only as re-themed standard rooms, they shouldn't be so massively inflated in cost as they appear to be at the moment (maybe a little extra as the come with A/C and games console. but when you compare these with the Ice Age Room its not quite up there with their best themed suites.

I should point out that photos do not do these rooms justice at all. They look a lot nicer when you are in them than in the photos. The look and feel quality and are certainly far superior to the current standard rooms. However I'd imagine they will come down in price if and when more rooms are re-done (exactly when or how this happens depends on the success of these initial rooms).

:)

Great update, thanks.

They look good, as long as you can be flexible with your dates that is. £210.00 for an off peak night (before MAP discount,) is fair, but I wouldn't pay much more than that and wouldn't touch it at peak times.

The detail is quite mixed. Some parts like the desk, the panel by the bunkbeds and the bathroom look amazing, but then other parts like the white wall and window look really bare, and the table / chairs just look like bog standard ikea jobs.

They acutel look really nice, I wouldn't mind stopping in one of these rooms :)

A Moon Voyager room was £320 for 4 people in August when I looked.
Now, that would be fine if it included park tickets for at least one day, but as it doesn't, it is a little bit too high!

When the prices are lowered, I may consider staying in one!

The Moon Voyager rooms and Ice Age rooms look and sound fantastic, if you don't look at the price, and they are certainly what Alton need to have for their standard rooms!

I do hope that the Moon Voyager rooms will become the standard rooms in the not so distant future.

Yeah all of the new rooms (moon voyager and Smiler) are getting air-con which is a good move.

I really like these rooms, just think currently they are too expensive.

They also include a Fridge, which is nice addition.

The problem with all these fancy rooms, is because they are a little bit extra, and a little bit special, you want to spend more time in them. I wish they had a Midday checkout.

Ian's money saving tip this week, is to book these special rooms when the park is closed, they are normally cheaper, and mean there is less distractions from spending time in the room. If you missed last weeks, its the 25% discount you get, if you book a 2nd visit within 28 days of a previous visit.
