So Bill Gates can give you COVID.Does anyone know what the new communication tower is and why on the swarm island?

Possibly or probably...or a bit of both?Probsbly for communications to be fair. But I am not sure.
I am currently on a trip whereby the ops are so slow make Merlin ops look phenomenal which actually they can be pretty great when they want to beFor those interested in such matters, I have to say that Stealth is operating phenomenally this morning; my throughput average across 10 readings was 975pph, or a train every 1m 13s, which is as fast as I’ve ever seen on here! I’ve been witnessing dispatches as fast as 70s or lower, and quite frequently, the staff have been outpacing the 40s dispatch timer on the platform (something which I’d have said was largely redundant in past years gone by). 80s is a slow interval today!
It’s way faster than I’ve ever seen Rita operate, and it made an advertised 40 minute queue fly by in 15 minutes!
In the current absence of Hyperia (it’s on a “delayed opening”), it’s also definitely my favourite coaster at Thorpe, so as I liked it so much and the queue is moving so quickly, I’ve decided to hop straight back in the queue for another go!
Inferno was also operating well this morning, with minimal stacking and a throughput average of somewhere in the ballpark of 1,000pph across two separate throughput timing windows (I was broken up in my timing, and I got 977pph on one average of 5 and 1,024pph on one average of 4).
For a park that often gets flack regarding operations, I thought I should give the teams here some praise today; throughputs thus far are really good
I wouldn’t count on there being a high chance of your weather app and actual conditions measured at the ride to determine operation being the sameIt would appear as though 26mph is our gust limit for Hyperia… my weather app says 26mph, and the ride has closed due to high winds.
Seeing as it didn’t open until 2:10pm, the ride has operated for less than an hour.
The newness lasts around 3 years before next new ride needs to be ready, for the next new ride and if its a flat then it can be a quick build time remeber these coasters take years to pay off.Now the season’s drawing to a close in a little while, are we safe to assume 2026 will be the second year of no new rides and the third of basking in Hyperia’s fading newness and slightly less patchy reliability?
Is that… a standard measure or something? Seems extremely arbitraryThe newness lasts around 3 years…
On the subject of what’s currently being discussed; I do think the lack of anything for Thorpe post-Hyperia is mildly concerning. It seems odd when Chessington is having money thrown at it and even Alton are getting relatively healthy investment…
Speculation at this point but it won't surprise me if a certain Wave Swinger in storage is the 2026 additionNow the season’s drawing to a close in a little while, are we safe to assume 2026 will be the second year of no new rides and the third of basking in Hyperia’s fading newness and slightly less patchy reliability?
Which is officially nonsense considering in the 2000s Thorpe were opening new rides left, right and centre most years. Inferno opened 12 months after Colossus! The newness lasts around 3 years before next new ride needs to be ready, for the next new ride and if its a flat then it can be a quick build time remeber these coasters take years to pay off.
Early 2000's was a different time stuff was cheaper and costs have ballooned not to mention all those investments were due to Thorpe fireWhich is officially nonsense considering in the 2000s Thorpe were opening new rides left, right and centre most years. Inferno opened 12 months after Colossus!
IIRC 2025 is the first year (except for COVID) in the park’s history dating back to 1979 when there wasn’t anything new at all (no rethemes, no temporary mazes, nothing). There is currently no concrete suggestion 2026 will be any different and that - I would suggest - is curious.

Plans for the move into the thrill market - Colossus specifically - were in motion in 1999, a year before the fire; almost all the additions in that period were on land untouched by the fire; and Hyperia was £2 million cheaper than The Swarm despite being built 12 years later.Early 2000's was a different time stuff was cheaper and costs have ballooned not to mention all those investments were due to Thorpe fire
