Thorpe Park: General Discussion

Oh good. I see a fair few closed today, samurai, quantum, zodiac, high striker, storm surge plus as we know rapids shut up shop a few weeks back

Yeah I don't think Quantum opened on Friday either.

Storm Surge was open most of today but did have some issues.

High Striker has been opening daily but closed from 3pm throughout Fright Nights so far. Bit bizarre as only saves 1 staff. Nothing new though, has always closed early throughout Fright Nights.

Assume zodiac is waiting on a part ?

Who knows with Zodiac. Its been closed for over 3 months now, and also had its fair share of issues last season.

It's a very old ride (secondhand from Drayton), so it wouldn't surprise me if Thorpe are weighing up options and it ends up like Enterprise at Towers.

Zodiac has never been one of my favorites so I wouldn't miss it, but it would be a shame to see it go and not have anything replace it.

Zodiac was manufactured in 2005. 2 decades old, not that old in the grand scheme of things.

A Zamperla Endevaour would be a good replacement for Zodiac similar but different. Also really feel that Thorpe needs a star flat again Slammer was that a stella ride and could do with something unique like it

Was it only at Drayton for 1 season then? For some reason I thought it was much longer than that
Two seasons, it arrived at Drayton Manor Park and Zoo in 2003.

was that a stella ride
Thorpe Park have never had a ride called wife-beater, as far as I'm aware.

Sorry yes 2003, not 2005. So 22 years old, still a spring chicken.

I was working at the park when this was introduced, the same season as Excalibur debuted.

I would also say one of Huss' new generation Enterprises with the new seating style. This has been advertised for a few years but doesn't appear to have been installed so far.

I believe it may be possible that the Zamperla Endeavours have been more in favour with the American parks such as Six Flags opting for Zamperla over Huss instead.

Yeah, its still much younger than when Towers gave up with Enterprise. Will be interesting to see what the park do with it.

Its not even been reaching full height for a good number of years now.

Zodiac not reaching full height is simply to ensure that in the event of a power failure the ride will lower before it stops spinning. If it stops spinning whilst still nearly at full height there is nothing to keep you in the seat - you won't fall out but could still be injured

It probably didn't help Towers that it was a relocated Enterprise and the fact it was from 1984 making it one of the oldest rides there so it had a good run. But often had the shortest wait time.

Did Zodiac ever go full height and when was the last time it did. I believe Enterprise did go full height as well
