TowersStreet Coaster Building Contest 2021/22: Winners Declared (Competition Ended 12th May)

I started this and I've been working alot and was running out of time to finesse it so I'll have to submit as is. I also had no idea so many people would be like minded and design Mack launch coasters when I started. I guess that tells Towers something when they're looking for a new coaster model?

I've tried to include as much airtime, hang time and laterals as possible in this as it's everything Towers lacks. It looks higher than it actually is, it's actually only 22mtrs at it's highest point (the zero g roll) as it's in a pit. It's still lower than the top of the lift hill of the Nemesis I whacked in the back ground (I didn't build it, I downloaded it for perspective). Pit is a similar size to Nemesis.

Can't think of a name or a theme so I'm just going to call it Swine (get it? SW9 - Swine? Oh forget it......). Probably theme it to some sort of Nemesis sporn or something like that.

Length: 2211m
Max speed: 60mph
Airtime g: -1.66g
Airtime moments: 17
Airtime total duration: 8.63s
Inversions: 12
Trains: 4
Capacity:1225 PPH

Excellent submission @Matt.GC; phenomenally long given the site, and I love the mix of airtime hills, inversions and twists!

Very kind of you. I was going for twists and ejector. Loads I would change but circumstances changed at work and I just didn't have time to finish it as I would have liked

@Matt N I’m not going to be able to submit anything so count me out if this round please.
OK; that's fine! Cheers for letting me know; I was only curious just so I could gauge whether tomorrow was going to be late enough to start the voting stage for everybody!

What time is the deadline today @Matt N ? I think I should be able to submit it later on today although it'll be a close one, it depends how many times my computer crashes.

So my entry. A bit strange but a coaster type I hadn't actually ridden until 2 days ago. I'll call it Flawed Floorless. Roughly 1200pph on 2 trains, has the capability to run 3 if the ops were to support it.

My entry: Wardley's Revenge

That one required a lot of fine tuning and tinkering

Nice submission @Thameslink Rail! A wing coaster is a very different approach, and I liked the big pit and terraforming you did!
So my submission is an RMC with some wacky elements, include what I like to call the throw you in a tunnel and then throw you about a bit. 7
It took quite a lot of trail and error with this one but I think it's pretty good overall, although there are area's I would improve on if building it again.

Great submission @JAperson! You’ve got some nice pops of airtime and twists in there, and I have to say I applaud the fact that you’ve managed a non-launched coaster on the site, as the brief made a gravity-fed coaster tricky, in my view!

I like it @Poisson! It’s a long ride given the site, it’s very unique, and it works really well on the whole! I also really like the terraforming; that pit is fantastic!

Sorry to double post, but submissions for Round 3 are now closed. The voting stage has begun!

Just as a reminder, here are everyone’s submissions, with the relevant user next to them so you know who to vote for if you liked a particular submission:
  • Tiban, a Mack Rides Launch Coaster by @Connor98:
  • Overlord, an Intamin LSM Launch Coaster by @Matt N:
  • Project X, a Mack Rides Launch Coaster by @Archermav:
  • Nemesisn't, an Intamin LSM Launch Coaster by @mo237:
  • Apocalypse, a Premier Rides launch coaster by @RicketyCricket:
  • Unnamed Mack water coaster by @Burbs:
  • Swine, a Mack Rides Launch Coaster by @Matt.GC:
  • Wardley's Revenge, a B&M launched wing coaster by @Thameslink Rail:
  • Unnamed RMC IBox Track by @JAperson:
  • Flawed Floorless, a B&M Floorless Coaster by @Poisson:

So those are the submissions! If you need a reminder about how voting works, here’s a quote of my post explaining it from the first round:
Now I hear you asking "well if I'm supposed to vote, how on earth does voting work?". Well don't worry; I'm about to clear that up!

Basically, I would like each of you to post your top 5 layouts, ranked in order. Can I please request that you include the user who created the layout in each of your ranking spots, so I can keep an easier tally of the scores as voting progresses (going off of ride name alone would make things tough, as there are 3 Exoduses). You can include the ride name if you like or you can just post the user if you'd prefer, but if you could put usernames in there for each ranking, that would be terrific! I would also like you to nominate the layouts that you feel are Most Realistic and Most Original; these do not have to be from your top 5. So if I was posting my votes, I'd post something like this:
  1. @UserA
  2. @UserB
  3. @UserC
  4. @UserD
  5. @UserE
  • Most Realistic: @UserX
  • Most Original: @UserY
(Obviously you don't have to post exactly like that, but that's just a template to give you some idea. You can offer some explanation of your choices if you wish, or you can just post the users themselves without any explanation; it's entirely up to you!)

In terms of how the scoring works; each ranking within a list is weighted a certain amount, with a #1 ranking gaining the most points and a #5 ranking gaining the least points. The weightings are as follows:
  • #1 ranking gains 5 points
  • #2 ranking gains 4 points
  • #3 ranking gains 3 points
  • #4 ranking gains 2 points
  • #5 ranking gains 1 point
  • A vote for Most Realistic gains 1 Realism point, and a vote for Most Original gains 1 Originality point. These are logged separately to the overall points.
Before I let us jump into voting, let me just lay out one ground rule; please do not vote for yourself. Please exclude your own layout when casting your vote. I know that sounds harsh, but I feel that allowing votes for your own submission could unfairly skew the results.
EDIT: Just as a memo, a log of both the overall competition scores and the scores for the current round are being kept in my initial post on page 1.
Now all that’s been cleared up; get voting, everybody! Your voting deadline is Tuesday 22nd March at 11:59pm.

My apologies, I only just realised that I totally forgot to vote when initially starting the voting stage on Wednesday morning!

My votes go to:
  1. @Matt.GC
  2. @RicketyCricket
  3. @Archermav
  4. @Poisson
  5. @Connor98
May I just say; phenomenal round, everybody! I was thoroughly impressed by both the originality and the realism of the submissions here, and trust me, it was a very tough pool of submissions to pick a top 5, most realistic and most original from, as they were all great!
