TS South: 24-26 June 2016

I will probably pop by before the meal on Friday to say hello as I'll be in the area. Won't be at Paultons on Saturday as I'll be in London (had other plans!) But will try and make an appearance at Thorpe. Will be intrigued by all your thoughts on the new area at Paultons.

Just a heads up to those of you considering Chessie on the Saturday... you might want to check the weather. The park's a bit underwater today.

I'll certainly be monitoring the forecast closely before making the long trip to Paultons.

I'll be going to both parks :)

See you all there

I would have stayed at the hotel both nights, but no rooms left. I do always seem plan too late haha, there was rooms available saturday the other day but at a shocking £90.

Is anyone here travelling to Paultons by train via Southampton Central? It seems to be the suggested station but Romsey is closer. Any advice for travel?

Just checked and Southampton is definitely twice as far from Paultons as Romsey is. From what I remember from my last trip, taxi from Romsey is probably the easiest/cheapest option.

In other news, it's taken me a long time but I've finally organised myself for tomorrow. Though I'll almost certainly be late because I'm unreliable and it's a bloody long way.

Never been to Paultons before so no idea of the layout. Is there a specific place to meet in the morning?

Just at the entrance, presumably. AstroDan has advised that he expects the services-breakfasting contingent to arrive around 9:45 AM.

We're going to brexit, sorry - breakfast at Starbucks by junction 4 M3 in the morning and then meet at 9.30am at TP.

Good evening all!

What a wonderful day at Paultons that was :) even the downpours were hilarious hiding under the trees :)

Really enjoyed my time exploring the park, I loved how clean and cared for the whole place looked. The new area is really quite pleasing with food theming and two rather smashing family coasters!

I don't plan on visiting the park again until there is another enticing investment, or indeed until I have kids, but from what I saw today it was very pleasant!

Hi all,

First proper meet for me (where I managed to stay for more than a few hours) and was fab to get to meet some of you.

Thought Paultons was a great little Park and the Lost Kingdom a good addition to their line up. Wouldnt rush back unless they made another similar investment, mainly as it doesn't really cater for the thrill market but would recommend it to anyone with a young family.

Thorpe well it was doing what Thorpe does best. Still managed to get on a few of my favourite rides at the park and enjoy the sunshine so overall not a bad day.

Hope to see you at the next one. :)

Thoroughly enjoyed this weekend. As most of you know, a group of us visited Chessington instead of Paultons, and let's just say, the horror stories are true! Regardless, we had a good day in the end and got my credits. :)

Thorpe was... Thorpe. Very very busy, and I think we must have walked over to Stealth 3 times and each time decided the queue was too long or it was broken down. All rides died down by 5pm such that N:I, Collosus, Stealth etc were no longer than a 10 minute wait. I hate to say it, but highlight of the day was I'm A Celebrity! Brilliant experience, and much longer than I expected. :)

Of course the highlights of the weekend were the evening sosches - was wonderful to catch up with you all and talk to some that I hadn't much before.

Oh, and welcome to our new meet members, @ClaraCat (and her +1), @mobius91's +1 and @Stuntman707

I enjoyed the Thorpe meet, in a way it is nice to see that the Merlin park is still as popular as ever and doing well. Only downside was the lengthy queues for rides and Nitrogenie running out of Lemon Mirange Ice Cream.

I'm happy I finally got to ride Saw, the indoor effects were great. In fact I think it would have been better as a dark ride. The outdoor section was quite a head-banger!

Around 5, the crowds started to die down and we managed to get on Stealth, Nemesis Inferno and Colossus to end the day on a high.

I hope to make an appearance again at Alton Towers soon.

I only did the Thorpe part of the meet, and of course Thorpe was usual Thorpe, colossus on one train, slammer closed, vortex closed. The usual really!

However it's the people that make the day, and it was a good day, the weather was very nice and I'm rather red today!

The food was also nice in Finns bar and grill and by 5pm the park was pretty dead so we got on quite a bit then.

I'll see you all again soon!
