UK Halloween events

I’ve always quite liked a good Halloween event. Generally, I think it’s because a good scare is a lot of fun, along with its seasonality and high attraction turnover rate, which scratch an itch for novelty you often can’t get out of rides, which are expensive and timely to produce. Or, at least for me it does anyway.

However, I don’t see a lot of discussion about these events, mostly because they’re spread out between a few different threads, and there also seems to be a weirdly large amount of people dismissive of these events? so, as to resolve some problems listed, why not create a general one? I’m intending for this to be for general news regarding these events, reviews, updates, whatever it is really.

Wow, I sure do hope this hasn’t been made before, let’s see how it goes.

Isn't the only major event outside of the theme parks, Tulleys? Which has a thread about last year https://towersstreet.com/talk/threads/tulleys-shocktober-fest-scream-park.5234/
Well, I suppose it could be the thread for this year! There are other noteworthy events outside of Tulleys. Of course, Tulleys is likely the largest, but there are also events like: Fear at Avon Valley, Halloscream, Xtreme Scream Park, Scream Factory and whatever they're doing at Camelot. Of course, these smaller ones probably don’t warrant a whole thread, but maybe they do together. There ought to be a few, perhaps more local and off the beaten path events that could count too.

Really, I just thought if you went to one and would like to make a post about it here would be the place.
I may have possibly said this before...

Boo!

That is ten pounds please.
Well.. if I should pedantic, that would only be Merlin. As stated before, there is a notable amount of smaller, independent events that to me offer more bang for your buck. Hell, some are even for charity! I recall that these events don’t seem like your thing - have you considered that this may not be the thread for you?

This is really inaccurate, yes there are actors who jump out at you and scare you however there are still many elements to a scare maze. The set, which can make or break a scare maze, scare mazes are often scarier when the set is fully immersive and detailed. The lighting, again can play with the guests senses either over stimulating the eyes or removing eyesight altogether creating a disoriented feeling. The music is very often specifically chosen for a mazes theme, imagine going into Altonville and hearing 'pink pony club' playing rather than the creepy music of 'the most beautiful girl'. The narrative for many scare parks are created so finely to help create a further sense of narrative in the maze rather than just walking through an abandoned creepy place. They want to transport you into a real life horror film. Scare mazes are a lot more than just 'boo'. Even the actors go through training to create their own characters, narrative and lines to make each maze different from the last.

Take Xtreme scream park for example. Their mazes are very well known for having highly detailed sets, therefore creating the first point of immersion. Many of the mazes are centred around an everyday thing such as a Pie shop, Nightclub or Prison therefore adding a sense of realism to all their mazes. The recently won the ScarAward for Best Scare Experience and Best Original Concept & Idea for their newest maze, Blutlust. These are clearly not mazes that are just the word 'Boo'.

Everything aside, this thread is a great idea to highlight those smaller and overlooked scare parks for a wider audience.

Think people are taking Rob's post completely out of jokey context.

Besides it'll cost at least £30 nowadays for these events.

There's a thing happening in Leeds City Centre this year, doing the fresh and bold theme of.... clowns. But I've driven through there during Freshers Week so it will need to bring its A game. £25 for the privilege.

You all forget my age, and my old job.
I used to be paid very good money to go to such attractions with small groups of young people, every year, for over a couple of decades, before many on here were born.
The best locally is the passage del terror, due to others, I have done it around a dozen times, most of them paid, more recently for the fun of young "others".
Most are overpriced rubbish, poor value and lack imagination, long queues for short experiences.
Once you have done a couple of dozen, there is rarely anything new or different.
I don't run from clowns with chainsaws any more.
The best I have done have indeed been for charity, run by a local scout group, but they got stopped because of their extreme nature.

For most, scare event trips are something you grow out of, like rollercoasters.
For real scary, I used to do overnight walks over Pendle, with small groups of kids, a few days before or after the "big day".
They were the scary ones.
They were the ones that still get mentioned decades later.

But I will correct myself.

Boo.
That is fifteen pounds please.

A few days ago, FEAR announced a new attraction, called Seeds of Evil.
