Would be pretty cool.

The only issue with this is the practicality and cost. To have a free moving animatronic Mosasaur (is that the correct name?) of the scale it is in the movies you'd be talking probably the most expensive and largest animatronic in the history of Theme parks. I just don't think it would be feasible really.

Definitely thinking it's more likely to be Water World or James Bond Stunt show myself.
My immediate thoughts are that it’s a James Bond stunt show as well tbf

The success of Hogwarts Legacy would say 99% of people either don’t know or don’t care.

The IP is hers but it’s now also bigger than her.

Hence why I said they are watching and waiting, I don’t think they will invest millions on the back of a game success, I haven’t watched the Potter films or read the books in years but legacy is a really fun game even without the main characters of the IP in it so I have played.

I think the health of the IP itself will be demonstrated by the TV series however, it will also add a new thematic dynamic to the IP (everything currently at Universal runs off the film thematics, will they want to shift gear to the TV show if it’s a success?).

There is a lot of flux in the Potter world at the moment, so I think it’s healthy for Universal to pause on potter and see where it lands, and how bonkers its creator becomes.

For what it's worth, Metro seems to think Harry Potter will be one of the main IPs. Make of that what you will.

The Potter TV series will go the same way the Rings of Power went. The fans will rebel.

People are so emotionally attached to the live action films with Ian McKellen as Gandalf in LOTR or Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter they won't give it a chance. It will be written off before it's even aired on TV.

I enjoyed Rings of Power for what it was. It made me want to read the Many Middle Earth books I own again and fall in love with the worlds all over again. I went in knowing it wouldn't live up to the Jackson films and it obviously didn't. Still enjoyed it though.

With Potter it's also worth remembering that they are already going down the route of having to have a bit of a tenuous link between a Fantastic Beasts IP and the orignal Potter movies in Epic Universe which suggests that they're running out of original movie areas to create the large immersive worlds out of.

Anyone who wants more Potter, what would they like to see next? I guess you could do a Forbidden Forest full area (they have Hagrids but that is just the coaster and actually not that foresty), I've always said that an Azkaban dark ride would be great but what other areas would merit a full land?

I'd say that's more down to Fantastic Beasts being a bit of a failure as a spin off more than anything.

I personally reckon the stunt show could be James Bond. It’s such a quintessentially British IP, and I also think it would have tons of scope for a stunt show.

As for Potter; I personally question the impact of JK Rowling’s online comments on the franchise’s popularity. I’m not saying I necessarily agree with her, but I think the number of people who care strongly about Rowling’s comments is mostly limited to particularly vocal online minorities rather than being a representation of the broader populace at large. I personally feel the more likely reason for its absence would be licensing issues with the Studio Tour or the need to minimise duplication with Orlando. It’s still a very popular franchise, and as others have said, I think it’s a lot bigger than Rowling herself.

In Potter’s absence, I do think they need something with an equivalent “hook”, and equivalent broad worldwide appeal, to replace it. Lord of the Rings could be that, I guess, and it would be very British!

Despite Rowling's extreme toxicity and the wet firework of Fantastic Beasts, the Potter areas are still perfect theme park fodder and a pleasure for people to spend time and money in. Just as Universal has inexplicably cloned Waterworld in Beijing, thirty years after it flopped, the Potterverse seems bulletproof when it comes to the parks biz.

I’d echo the comments that I think a LOTR dark ride with the same ride system as Forbidden Journey and Monsters Unchained would go down a treat. I’m not a fan of LOTR personally, but I think it could be an exceptional dark ride

I’d love Potter personally even if it’s not going to happen right now. I’d be happy with having a new version potentially based upon the TV show years down the line in one of those big expansion areas if WB are willing to sell those rights here in the UK.

It’d be different to the rest of the potter areas elsewhere, and let’s face it there’s only so many times and years left where you can keep on rolling out the old cast to film updated pieces for rides etc.

In the meantime I’d be happy with LoTR.

Mr Bean and the Wombles for Expansion plots 1 and 2. Make it happen! 😂

But in all seriousness it will probably be something like Nintendo or Dark Universe related they eventually bring over once Epic has had it's flowers.

A Jaws Ride would be cool too if it's not already included in these plans which I don't think it is as the show building isn't close to big enough for that type of ride.

Low-key could see Mr Bean, Teddy and his green car as a parade float!

cars will GIF

I'd love to see a Nintendo Land!

I think that's incredibly likely to come in their expansions down the line. Makes total sense to hold that back for now and not deter people going to Florida.

Like Potter.....the merch alone for Nintendo is basically a license to print money. I think we will see mini Nintendo lands turning up a lot at their properties over the next 10-15 years.

This is exciting but I'm not going to get carried away - there's lots of aspects that could impact the plans through the planning process.

For example, if you look on the mapping website of your choice, the park neighbours an ASDA warehouse which you can clearly see an LNG fuelling station on the park boundary. This will have hazardous substances consent and zones will have been set from the tank (before a Universal theme park was thought up) to limit development/the amount of people who can be in proximity to that tank. The zones won't cover the whole development, just by that one section. That's just one aspect of many to be overcome during the planning process next year.
