As someone who absolutely loves watching construction for projects I'm passionate about, even the borehole stuff is exciting to me. Just to see signs of progress, no matter how small, always puts me in a good mood. Of course I understand most people get annoyed at an update for the tiniest of things, but me? I eat that stuff up.

If a statutory Instrument is to be laid, going by the days required, they'll need to submit plans before Saturday if it is 40 days. Or by July 2nd if it's just 21 days. So there's a very real chance plans will be submitted in the coming weeks.

Yeah, I'm definitely with you there. I've really enjoyed the construction updates so far, learning the lay of the land etc. I was really pleased to see the digger in action, as it's all a part of testing the site. If all goes well, this is the beginning of construction.

Not sure why you think there’s such a tight timetable? The SI will come at the end of the planning application process (if approval is via a Special Development Order), so that’s going to be in the autumn at the earliest. Bedford Council expect Universal to submit their planning application in the summer, and for final approval to come in the autumn. So the final bit of legislative process will happen after the summer recess, not before. In the meantime we will, hopefully, see some of the detail of what Universal submitted to the government in their planning application, and I’d guess an acceleration of activity on the site preparing for preparatory works.

My mistake I'm not aware of the processes involved and was going off the info you provided.

My point was if we have a 40 day timetable until recess, the docs need to be submitted before Sat as recess begins July 23rd. If it is the 21 day window, then July 2nd. As for stuff about the SI, yea that's me reading your info wrong or getting the wrong end of the stick, sorry.

It depends on what your company does.


Experience UK will receive the tenders for the creative/manufacturing side, but your company would have to a) be in the experience economy sector, b) be a UK entity, and c) be a member.

One of the largest MEICA companies in the UK.

There won’t be a traditional “experience” company large enough for type of installation the size of UGB. (Certainly all of it)

I vaguely remember seeing that before, may need to sign up

Experience UK is a trade body, not a construction or "experience company".

When a company puts out tenders, especially for a project of this size, it is usually done through a specialised trade body.
