Unpopular Opinions: Theme Park Edition

- The Smiler's themeing is awful, in actual fact everything about it apart from the track and train is terrible.
- On top of the previous point, Wicker Man > Smiler
- Disneyland Paris is a brilliant park, even if it feels a bit unloved.
- Twister at Grona Lund is better than Balder
- Thorpe under DIC Tussauds was the best time to visit the park
- Derren Brown's Ghost Trains is one of the worst ideas and biggest wastes of money in the UK industry.
- Tivoli Gardens as a theme park is just "alright", however as a public park it is absolutely beautiful.
- Oz'Iris is better than Nemesis.

Vampire is one of the best UK Steel coasters.
Wickerman is a better experience than Nemesis
Pleasurewood Hills has some great experiences and you can have a great day out there.

In my honest opinion, I think Wicker Man is better than Icon

EDIT: By no means is Icon bad, it is a fantastic coaster, but I was more impressed by Wicker Man, especially as ive only ever ridden it at the back, however they are both fantastic. Icon is my third favourite coaster in the country, with Wicker Man being top.

Hollywood Tour and Temple of the Nighthawk are nowhere near as bad as people say, as a first time Phantasialand visitor. I can imagine after a few visits it’ll turn into Hollywood Bore and Temple of the Shitehawk, but really, they’re not that bad!

Dated? Yes. Thrilling? No. Mind blowing? No. Fun/enjoyable as a first time rider? Certainly. :)

Joyland at Gt Yarmouth is better than Alton Towers
Joyland snails are faster than Rita
Joyland Spook express rollercoaster has better themeing than The Wicker Man

Seriously? The wife wants to go back there soon, it was the location of our first ever holiday together 23 years ago and we haven't been back since.

  • Tiger Rock' station is worse than Dragon Falls' station
  • Gruffalo is a poorly designed ride for the ride system
  • Zufari is the best Chessington ride
  • Chessington is worse than Legoland
  • Furious Baco is a good ride
  • Dragon Khan is painfully rough
  • Shambhala is over rated

Shambhala is certainly not a bad coaster but it simply is not the greatest thing ever. Theming is simply average while the main queue line is a cattle pen (although srq is amazing). The ride itself is good with the highlight being the small airtime hill until the splashdown. Personally I prefer saw to Shambhala as my number 1 coaster but it's still a great ride

On that note ^^^

1. Mako
2. Silver star
3. Shambhala
What do you dislike about Shambhala compared to the other B&M hypers, out of interest? Mako is outstanding, but most people seem to rate Shammy above it, so I would be interested to know why you rate it differently, if you wouldn't mind saying?

Its not that i dislike it - far from it. I've been to PA 3 times since it opened so I've rode 15-20 times now, and I just don't seem to get much airtime out of it. The first drop is stunning though.

Mako is much more consistent with solid airtime over pretty much every hill. And whilst Silver Star doesnt have that consistency, there are 2 or 3 really strong stand out moments.

Although thinking about it I've got a fat **** and thighs like Serena Williams, and on Shambhala i need to be stapled in. On the other two B&M hypers I've ridden I fit comfortably with a bit of wiggle room to spare.
