Just over 3 months in and I’m now 2.5 stone down. Despite the pharmacy’s constant sales patter tempting me to up my dose, I’m still on 5mg. Paying for the medication was all about me using it as a tool to change my lifestyle, it was never the intention to use it as a tool to stop me eating so I lost weight as quick as possible. I’ve still not had anything processed since Christmas and my diet solely consists of eggs, meat, whole dairy, and veg. And the occasional red wine! Every body is different though and responds differently to medication, so I do full understand that many people need higher doses to achieve their own personal goals.
I have just over a stone to go before I reach my target weight.
It’s pretty eye opening the health benefits that come from losing weight, aside from just looking better. My resting heart rate has reduced by about 8bpm, my blood pressure has moved down from stage 1 hypertension to elevated, and I’ve drastically reduced my salt intake. These are key drivers in being healthy later in life, so by taking the preventative steps now, I hope to avoid burdening the nhs in later life.
