Wodan Timbur Coaster: General Discussion

Ah, that's not surprising... the wheels screeched a lot on that section when I rode it, so the track clearly experiences a lot of stress there!Only on the entry into the final brakes.

Surely a fully enclosed tunnel like Wicker Man would have been better?

I'm surprised the change didn't come much sooner considering how loud Wodan is. But as much a shame it is, I hope they eventually cut and sand down the ragged edges to make the appearance more uniform.
I am sure the ragged appearance is intentional

Having ridden it this last week, the sound barrier doesn't overly affect the experience, but a tunnel would be much more intrusive. A large chunk of the ride would end up essentially 'indoors', which would be a bit over bearing, considering Wodan already has quite a few tunnelled areas.Surely a fully enclosed tunnel like Wicker Man would have been better?

It pains me to link to Tiktok, but it would appear that more GCI Titan Track is being installed on Wodan:
Hard to tell where this is going, and how much of this there is, but with it looking like a straight piece of track you imagine it could just be for the brake run.

It would also link with the other bits of Titan Track. I assume the stress of it hitting the brakes causes odd things to happen wear wise possibly?Hard to tell where this is going, and how much of this there is, but with it looking like a straight piece of track you imagine it could just be for the brake run.

Supposedly the pre-lift section is being Titan tracked
That's even better then. It was riding poorly on that section at Hallowinter.

Yep, After riding it this weekend, the section from the station, to the bottom of the lift has been replaced with Titan Track

Looks like more Titan Track is getting installed.

Not totally sure how I feel about this. I get why they’re doing it, but Wodan is such a brilliant classic wooden coaster. I worry that over time more and more may get Titan Track and it will lose some of its character.
Hopefully they just do this end section where there is a lot of strain put on the track.

From what I can gather, it's to reduce maintenance/replacement costs in areas of heavy usage and reduce noise. Does sound like this is the last lot... for now.
Wodan for me is a ride that's getting better and better as it ages, and do hope it continues that way with as much of its wooden character as possible. Night and day riding it for the first time in 2013 versus in 2024!

Granted, it’s nearly 4 years since I visited Europa now, but I remember Wodan being a pretty phenomenal ride!
It comfortably sits in my top 10 and although Silver Star was my favourite coaster on park at the time and remains in my top 5 (I went pre-Voltron and wouldn’t like to speculate on how that might rank), Wodan wasn’t a million miles behind. I just remember it being absolutely relentless, with ridiculous speed for a woodie and some fun bits of airtime too!
I haven’t actually ridden a GCI with Titan Track, but I do wonder if it would feel a bit strange existing on a wooden coaster layout. The RMCs are different because they are new steel coasters that happen to use a wooden support structure; I wonder if bolted on steel track in small sections might feel weird on a wooden coaster.
