You know you're getting old when...

Shopping for soft furnishing today as the wife wants to spruce things up.

20 years ago sprucing up meant something entirely different.

Edit:- brought myself a new filleting knife and a pasta maker….. proper excited.

I felt old recently when I was in the car with my older sister and she was listening to the radio station KISS. It was KISStory hour (where they spend an hour playing “old-school anthems”)… and me and my sister actually knew most of the songs!

When me and my sister were younger and my dad used to put the same radio station on, we always used to think that you’d have to be really old to know all the songs during KISStory hour… so I’m clearly now “really old”!

There was also another occasion recently where I was in the car with my dad, my sister and her boyfriend, there was music on, and my sister and her boyfriend were ranting about how “all modern music is just interchangeable s**te these days” and “it was so much better in our teens”… I thought that finding all modern music terrible was one of the first signs of getting older!

For clarity, my sister is under 2 years older than me, so we’re close enough in age that our respective youths were pretty similar in terms of pop culture.

When @rob666 was a youngun there were only three radio stations. BBC Home Service, BBC Light Programme and BBC Third Programme. None of this commercial radio malarky and certainly nothing with drums or a guitar!

Not true...I was a strict Radio One fan...
From the very start.
I was also a very, very early starter with EDM if you don't mind.
Kraftwerk and the Clockwork Orange soundtrack.
And the Wombles.

I do hate all that modern music is all rubbish talk.

All the past decades from 50s-2000s has all been filtered now so you only hear the best songs and the big hits. That'll eventually happen for the 10s and 20s, then that generation will complain the music in the 2050s is all garbage.

...when there are few greater pleasures than a bonfire on your allotment on a Sunday afternoon.

* flag for bird scaring purposes only. I'm not that guy.

To my ears, Kiss only plays modern **** now.
Centreforce is where it's at.

Kiss is just Heart with a smaller playlist now. There are only a couple of specialist shows with any credibility. I'm remeber the excitement when it launched as a legal station. A shame what's happened to local radio all round.

All todays customers know me well, and this trip has been discussed with all for many months.
.
Ah, yes, all sedan chair volunteers...
Main gates, around 9:30, for a slow walk down to nemesis.
Welcome Inn from The Curse for high noon, after that, you are dismissed.
