You know you're getting old when...
In the queue for Oblivion going past the box of broken phones they use to scare you into securing your loose items, when a group of teenagers in front have the following exchange:
Girl 1: (gesturing at a Blackberry) ‘why is there a calculator in there?’
Girl 2: ‘It’s not a calculator, it’s one of those old fashioned phones’
Girl 3: ‘But why’s it got so many buttons?’
Girl 1: (gesturing at a Blackberry) ‘why is there a calculator in there?’
Girl 2: ‘It’s not a calculator, it’s one of those old fashioned phones’
Girl 3: ‘But why’s it got so many buttons?’
Now it was the "big boss" many years ago admitting to being addicted to his "Crackberry", and answering an email from me at five o clock on a Sunday morning. (Back in the days when people didn't get emails until Monday morning.)
I told him he was a sad fool for getting involved with work at the weekend, and I apologised for contacting him accidentally at the weekend...and he agreed he was an absolute fool, he just could not avoid the technology, his own weakness.
So I stuck to my no mobile telephony rule, because I knew I would be just as bad.
I am thinking of moving up a grade to the Psion Organiser One soon though.

Asking someone for ID, seeing “2007” as the DOB and then putting your back out reaching for the hooch they asked for.

Step right up boys and girls, come see the sights! The sounds! The astonishing, world's last remaining Blackberry user!
(I'm actually proud of her dedication to the cause. She'll buy old ones, fix them, restore them, jailbreak Android on to them etc. You can see why I love the lass.

I love my Blackberry's!
I've been through multiple brands - classic Nokia 5110 and 3310, a Samsung Z500 flip phone (loathed that one but got it for free), the Motorola SLVR... then tried a Blackberry and stuck with it since. Have now owned several versions of the Bold, Classic, Priv... currently using a Key2.
Major issue is it's stuck with a very old version of Android and won't ever update. Alas, that's where the 'known for being hard to hack' part becomes annoying.
I would like to point out that recently I've had several of my young 11/12yr old Guides go 'Woah, that's so cool it has a keyboard!' when they've seen my phone. The slide up front of the Priv also used to impress!
Will probably look at the Unihertz Titan or something when it eventually dies. I just like having real buttons, hate touchscreen keyboards!

I've seen those! Weirdly first saw them on an Arabic tech programme. I almost burst out laughing out loud on the studio floor at the time.Just add a keyboard to the phone! https://www.clicks.tech/en
Gosh it's almost as if people LIKE having physical keyboards. Whodda thunk!?!
Elderly gardener thoosie with a dodgy auto volvo shed reporting in.
Again.
Volvo gone in for more gearbox play (under warranty) for around a week, never broken down, just broody and moody with the gear selection.
In a rush to get as many gardens done as I could in the current good weather, and to avoid using a silly MX5 for gardening, I managed to ****** up...
The main wankle, too many sloping lawns...
the lesser wankle, slipped off path walking backwards admiring my work...
tendonosis in both wrists, from trying to hoe and dig soil that has dried out like concrete...
and, er, bursitis in the hips, caused by riding the steeplechase with dippy dave last week.
I'm too old for saddles.
So I plan a nice slow recovery day today, resting on the Beach...Crevettes in the shade.
Tuesday.
Closed.

Common People: Pulp's 'rubbish' riff that became a Britpop anthem
Thirty years after its release, what made Pulp's Common People one of Britpop's defining anthems.

Unfortunately that era is 30 years ago. I saw Supergrass on Tuesday. 30 years of I should Coco tour. Will see cast later in the year, with their 30 years tour of all change.
I Sat with my parents in 1995 and watched the Beatles anthology. They had the exact conversation, "I can't believe this was 30 years ago." Imagine how old they feel now.
The 30th anniversary of one track that will make me feel old. Don't Look Back In Anger. That was everywhere and defined the times.

The 90's were the best, As a kid anything on telly from the 60's felt ancient. Now my nieces and nephews think me and my siblings are old farts. The circle of life. Told them in 30 years they'll be harking on about the 20's while Gen whatever are riding Tesla robots for crops.

We're the same distance in time away from Pokémon, as "What's The Story Morning Glory" is from "Rubber Soul".
And there are now people old enough to buy alcohol at Alton Towers, who weren't alive when it wasn't owned by Merlin.

Who else remembers when playgrounds were the best H&S training, that p, if you survived them, would keep you safe for life?
