Ever wondered what it might be like to see some of your favourite musical acts play at your favourite theme park? Well Alton Towers Live allows that very thought to happen! Various acts have taken to the hallowed lawns at the end of Towers Street, and it seems like even more are set to do so!
Overview
There has been a varied history of concerts and events at Alton Towers and many different acts have taken to either the car parks (for private events such as The Ultimate Event), or the lawns at the end of Towers Street. Previous events include the 80’s themed 30th Anniversary concert and the P!nk concert of 2010, then the first Alton Towers Live! event in 2011.
The in-park events have seen a large stage and concert area erected on the lawns at the end of Towers Street for the guests who have paid to see the act(s) perform.
Tickets for Live events include packaged entry to the park alongside entry to the arena and the park is generally open later on these days. The events are generally popular, so we recommend booking early and being prepared for some of the busiest days of the season!
2010
2010 was the first year the concert dates became a major feature on the Alton Towers calendar, and events included a 30th Anniversary 80’s themed concert to commemorate the park’s opening, and also the (more famous) P!nk event.
80’s Concert
A free concert featuring the music of the 80’s was arranged to commemorate the opening of the UK’s biggest theme park. Headlining Rick Astley, Bananarama, Kim Wilde, Midge Ure and Curiosity Killed the Cat, the concert took place on Sunday May 23rd 2010 on the front lawns of the Towers. Kicking off at 12 noon, the concert played to its audience for the whole afternoon under blue skies and glorious sunshine. The concert was noted by the BBC to coincide with the launch of Google’s Street View, with imagery taken inside the park.
P!nk
The P!nk concert took place on Sunday 27th 2010
2011
2011 saw an expansion of the concert dates into the more well-known Alton Towers Live branding. This year once again saw two events, with one of them being the very popular Black Eyed Peas. The other event was more like a mini-festival and this was known as Alton Towers Live
