The Cloud Wifi is officially coming soon!

A press release that appeared across many tech and news sites this week confirmed that the Resort will be working with The Cloud to offer free wifi to park guests across the whole resort. The system is expected to go live “in the summer” and will be second venture with The Cloud on the Merlin portfolio.

Poor Weather hampers spirits and rides

With most of the UK being battered by torrential rain and thunderstorms this week, the Resort has not gone unscathed either, with many guests braving and bearing awful conditions at the Resort. As usual the deluge of rain brought about the typical path flooding and large puddles across the park, and even managed to completely hamper Nemesis’ ride operation on Saturday.

The pool of ‘blood water’ located below the loop reached critical height resulting in a difficult decision for the technical services team to cease operation of the ride until the level was lowered to a safer height, leaving Nemesis unavailable for the day.

Hotel Discounts rife once again

As the park seemingly attempts to pull in more guests in what is understood to be a “tougher season than previous” for the Resort, so too are the hotels launching a barrage of discounts to entice guests to shack up and make the most of the whole resort experience.

Email shots were sent out again this week offering upto 50% off selected stays (when including a Sunday night, however!) booked online, and most interestingly a tweet was also published offering 30% off all bookings made before 12th July for stays until 2nd September. You can check out the details of the tweet right here

And finally… the Instant Escape Week promotion is underway!

If you hadn’t heard already, Alton Towers Resort is offering one randomly selected guest on resort a prize of £1,000, with one guest selected every day from now until 13th July. The second winner of the promotion was selected yesterday in the audience of the Ice Age theatre at 1.30pm with a “lucky” seating row and position revealed in an envelope in front of the audience.

The competition presumably hopes to draw further guests to the park with promotion on the Alton Towers website and social media sites. You can read more here on TowersStreet News
