Every Tuesday on our website and Facebook page we upload a variety of images from the TowersStreet archives in our popular feature Talbot Street Tuesday. We will continue to highlight old shows, attractions and various other aspects of Alton Towers that have been lost in time as we improve and add to our history section of  this site.

In this week’s Talbot Street Tuesday we are unlocking some videos of past attractions and shows that many of you have probably never seen before, this is all in honor of YouTube’s Geek Week.

Our first video is from one of the most popular dark rides ever built at Alton Towers, Toyland Tours. Toyland Tours has now been replaced by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory but it still holds a treasured place in many people’s hearts.

The Magic Factory was a documentary created by BBC Learning following the construction of Oblivion and various other aspects of Alton Towers during the 1997/1998 season.

In August 1999 and August 2000, Alton Towers performed a “Summer Spectacular” event on the main lake. The event was a battle between the pirates of the apocalypse and the residents of Alton Towers. Here is just a small section of the show, which is unfortunately the only video we could find in the archives.

And finally, Barney The Dinosaur visited Alton Towers for a number of seasons around the turn of the millenium, here is the full show from the Cred Street theatre which was filmed in August 2000.
