2014: General Discussion

Personally it all just looks very... sparse.

There isn't enough Christmas stuff nor trees to really make it immersive...

This just looks vile:

I say it looks great...

It looks better than I thought it would, but for a supposed world class theme park (sorry, couldn't resist :p) it's a bit naff.

I wasn't expecting much but they've got more than expected open I thought they would have opened ice age but it looks concentrated to mutiny bay the bottom of towers street and CBeebies

Are all the CBeebies attractions open?

I had a quick look in the other week, the one disapointment was the lack of any Christmas theme in CBeebies Land. The farm used to be covered in trees and lights, there is nothing in CBeebies Land, except for the grottos in one corner. Its got the same audio, same lighting, etc. You wouldn't even know it was a Christmas event. Compare that to Drayton, who have snow and everything in Thomas Land.

That may be to do with the licence agreements with the Beeb. For all we know there'a clause saying they are only allowed to play official Cbeebies audio / can't alter the theming without permission, even temprarily.

Not that I want to sound like I'm defending Merlin, or anything. ;)

surely they would of agreed a Christmas overlay to the area when setting up Cbeebiesland theming.

They weren't allowed to add anything to CBeebies Land over Scarefest so probably the same thing here. It's kinda understandable on the Beeb's part since they want their brand to stay consistent and look exactly the same. Although on the other hand it's a missed opportunity to further enhance the experience for families who will ideally be visiting for a Christmas event.

A shame but not surprising. Merlin are probably more than happy about it though, less than needs spending on Christmas decorations. You'd think both Towers and the BBC would want to make a childrens area look really magical at Christmas, a pity.

:)

@josht thanks for the pictures, looks great, even down to the specific costume of the staff member outside the grotto walkway. I disagree wit Dan, there is more than enough to make it look Christmassy, the driving school in the hospitality marquee may not be perfect, but better than not opening that attraction at all.

@josht is there any sign of the rumoured CBeebies extension onto the old Beastie site?

Nah nothing in the way of construction I reckon they will remove spinball and expend into that area maybe next year

It does look like a nice small event. But what I don't understand is why we are not see more ride open and the event becoming a lot larger. The Christmas period is the busiest period for theme parks around the world including the likes of Drayton Manor.

Christmas is the one of the only times of the year families a willing to spend that little bit extra to make it that little bit special, and spend time together. Just look how popular the winterwonderland is in London, I read the Christmas fete was well attended at Alton despite very little advertising, and the holt is booked up so clearly people want to experience Alton at Christmas.

Personally I really hope they don't remove Spinball.. Cbeebies can take over the space next to it, but Spinball is still a great coaster.

But if they do get rid of Spinball I think the hospitality marquee also needs to go and that whole side of the park can be CBeebies then. Hospitality can move inside the towers.

No chance of Spinball going next year. I'd imagine a new kids coaster will be put on the Beastie site in the time between FHT and opening in March.

:)

The above is exactly what I expect. And it is quite frankly embarrassing for a park like Towers.

:)
