I've never been one of those to leave cryptic messages with regards to new developments etc. You know, the people who say "I've heard this, but I can't reveal my source" etc. However, on this one occasion I will say that I've been informed with a nudge nudge wink wink that efforts are currently being made towards the cross-valley woodie. For obvious reasons I can't add any more info, and anything could or could not happen in the future depending on certain circumstances. I understand that this could be viewed as a pretty pointless post ;)

Pics or it didn't happen.

Well I know you are one of the better connected people round here, Barry, so I believe you.
... However, they have wanted to build it for years, so the pessimist in me won't get excited until we see footers. ;)

Yeah @BarryZola is not one to attract attention with big posts of this kind of nature.

To me that suggests there's definitely something in this rumours. Though I suspect it's hardly a secret it's been discussed before, but that is interesting.

Can you nudge nudge them away from an RMC and into something a bit more classy please Barry :D

I swear if the rumour was a B&M 4D you'd say they should get an RMC! You're worse than Sam "the contrarian" G!

:p

:p

No way, I am way in favour of a 4D!

You only have to check any post with an RMC in it to read my opinions of them lol!

I just like Towers coasters to look classy as well as ride well and be thrilling.

The woodie rumour happens with every SW although this time there do seem to be more trustworthy people suggesting it is at least a more serious proposition for SW8. :p Could of course just be some fabricated rumour that has spread like wildfire though (look at The Smiler's washing machine :D ).

Only 7-10 months until we (hopefully) find out anyway!

My money is on planning permission getting refused, and we end up with another rush job like The Smiler.

As one of the few enthusiasts not particularly enamoured with the RMC style ride, my reservations on the ride type existing at Towers are naturally slightly on the side of caution...

Hallelujah... At last another enthusiast who thinks like me. I have stated many times on these forums that RMC rides don't float my boat, so its refreshing to hear Benzin state that as well. The two RMC conversions I have ridden are ok, but not mind blowing whatsoever.

I personally would prefer a proper woodie in the valley....

I can't fairly judge RMCs as I haven't been anywhere near one... But I'm not a fair person, so I will anyway. :p

While some of their layouts look spanktastically good, I just don't see the point of the whole "hybrid" thing. Be steel or wood, make up your mind!

My understanding is RMC has two types of track fabrication, one feels more "woodie" than the other. At the end of the day if it's a good coaster then I'm happy.

The RMC rumour is running around good sources but I don't think there is much concrete out there yet.

While all the current models are short, Wildfire that they are building at Kolmarden in 2016 is 4265ft long so they can build longer coasters, this also uses the topper track product that RMC used on Outlaw run and Goliath rather than the Steal IBox track that six fags have used on their ride conversions.

I would imagine if Alton do go with an RMC it would also be a topper track product.

I disagree that all current models are short, most are over 3,000ft which is longer than anything currently in Forbidden Valley. The only really 'short' one is Outlaw Run, and even that is just 63ft short of the 3000ft mark.

Think it is more the time it takes to run the course, many are less than 40 seconds as they speed around their track. That said Length has never been an indicator or greatness.

That said Length has never been an indicator or greatness.

Do you find people say that to you often, with a half smile and a look of pity? ;)

I'd love a woodie at towers but I've got serious reservations about anything like that passing the planning chaps. If a small group such as WAG can impact on an almost silent Lodge development, you can bet your behind that there would be massive opposition to a wooden coaster steaming through an area of natural beauty.

Wood yes. Valley no.

I'm not even sitting on the fence on this... I'm sat on a wooden bench fifteen feet from the fence saying "it'll never happen". Of course when I'm proved wrong and we're all queuing for this beast on opening day, I'm happy to be reminded of this post ;).

If they can't build it in the valley then we're pretty unlikely to see a wooden coaster. If there was to be one, you feel it would have to have a significant drop (150ft+) purely to make it competitive with the recent competition, and they'd never get that unless it was in the valley.
