Wardley is primarily a concept designer, or at least was during the glory days. It wasn't until later on he took a more active role in designing the general layout and the like.

Right?

Which Collosus? Collosus, in Thorpe Park? Colossos at Heide? Or the former Colossus at SFMM?

Come to think of it, there are a lot of rollercoasters called Colossus (or a variation of it).
Thorpe park. On that on ride I almost broke my neck as well as having a dead mosquito falling of the ride onto my head whilst I was in the queue line, and the kid climbing on the rails kick me in the face. Oh yeah and hitting my leg of the side of the car and someone spilling their drink on me as I walked out.

Yeah. Great experience.:banghead:

Hey, Stengel also designed Kingda Ka, Millenium Force, TTD, Olympia Looping and El Toro!
The wonderful person responsible for two of Alton tower's finest rollercoasters.
Rita and sonic paintball
(Laughs quite a lot then thinks about weather Rita is actually bad. Then remembers coming of it thinking I'd lost an ear.) o_O

Lol I'm actually quite fond of colossus, reminds me of corky in a vague sort of way, fun but painful.
And yeah the first time I went on Rita I didn't brace myself for the first turn and smacked my right ear really hard on the restraints. The right side of my head went bright red and felt like it was on fire for the rest of the day ha ha :)

Stengel comes from an engineering perspective and doesn't really think of what would be the most entertaining unlike John who has a passion for showmanship. I imagine as long as the price is right Stengel will design a track layout from the specifications he is given. I would think before Nolimits was around John created the track layout and concept and he could have used Stengel as an advisor, who would make suggestions and tweaks to ensure the coaster would make it round the track etc
I understand what a few members are saying, John isn't the be all and end all of coaster designers, even though I still hold him in high regard. Not everything he has done is 100% perfect, saying that, even the best film directors make flops every so often.

Probably just because I am quite small and thin, meeing I rattle around a little more than most people.

There are good wooden coaster manufacturers out there so there's no desire or need for B&M to enter that market tbh.

Ehh... Most Secret Weapon projects have been B&Ms. They're not gonna go for Geraustler again...

Does Intamin do woodies?

Edit: Intamin made Colossos.

PREDICTION: SW8 is gonna be made be Intamin

What's that got to do with anything? All I said was there's no need for B&M to make woodies when there are already good manufacturers out there that make them.

Intamin do make woodies yes, although they opened once since 2008. I fully expect this to be either GCI or RMC, with the possibility of Gravity Group.

:)

Hey, RMC made Twisted Colossus; so they should be able to make a good woodie.

And speaking of TC, has anyone contemplated the possibility of SW8 being a hybrid coaster? Just a thought

Wooden structure with a steel track or vice versa? It sounded like the support was confirmed as wood.

My money was on any wood coaster at Alton being a steel structure, but that appears to not be the case.
