The Smiler Incident - What Happened

The fact that it stalled regularly during testing, shows that it was a known risk. The HSE will likely bring this up in the case as there was evidence of the coaster stalling, therfore there should have been an operating procedure to firstly identify the issue at the very least and then a procedure for how to deal with it.

As it stalled irregularly, and when it did stall the system e stopped itself as it did correctly on the day, shows that Gerstlauer had a robust design system in place for such an event. The fact that it can stall by design is irrelevant as it is reasonable to assume that it is designed as a machine to deal with such an occurance in an effective manner.

It's like the early rollbacks on Stealth. It was a known risk that the train would sometimes fail to clear the top hat under certain conditions so the breaks would be applied after the launch to catch the train and safely stop it on its way back down the launch track. Thorpe always had a clear procedure in place of what to do in the event of a rollback once the equipment had done it's job so the Smiler stalling issue should have had one as well. At this stage we don't know what that was, whether it was sufficient or whether it was just simply not applied for whatever reason.

Does anyone know if the operator is allowed to leave the booth whilst the ride is in operation/guests on board?

If it was me in the position of the op, especially now that this accident has happened, it wouldn't matter how many people reported to me that the track was clear, if the system was telling me it wasn't I'd want to go outside and look over the whole circuit if the CCTV wasn't adequate. I was curious as to whether that would actually have been allowed on the day of the accident or if the op would have had no choice but to look at the (supposedly insufficient) CCTV coverage and rely on the word of the other ride staff?

Don't know about towers but at Thorpe for the op on duty to leave the cabin the ride has to be locked off/shut down and the cabin door locked with a key with no guests on the ride.

I was always under the impression that the ride op would shut down the ride and the key remains with them until it assigned to another op. So maybe the op could leave the cab?

Interesting, at flamingo land they seem to do whatever they please!

I thought there was a ride host with a radio that acted as on the ground checker.

I apoligise in advance if I offend anyone, I certainly have not intention to do so. I'm sure most of you will have seen these 'Smiler crash was a hoax' videos. Espacially those produced by a bloke called William Tyndale. I'm aware he may even read this. He is most certainly entitled to his own opinions which I'm not trying to attack.

I would like to know your opinions on this theory. As I don't really understand this at all! Why? Imo I think it's garbage. But I would love to know yours.

I wish, again, to point out that if persons have no evidence to bring to the table that this was not faked, then leave off. It is wicked, and childish to shout abuse at people because you cannot answer them. All abusive comments will be removed as it is not the thing to be encouraged. We accept that there are many, many wicked people in this world, and their answer to things is to shout abuse."

I normally try to avoid the comments but some of these are too good. He's entitled to his opinion, but this is just ridiculous. There is no chance towers faked this. It's not like the missing arms on the swarm test rides (very questionable whether it was true, but a decent piece of marketing), no park would sacrifice at least £40 million profit and the mobility of three people for no logical gain.

Well i know how I'm spending the rest of the evening!
And for tomorrow...

Apparently there were four Vicky balch's now...

Why would a theme park hoax about their rides being dangerous. using a training exercise and amputee actors to make it real? It has no sense.

There are some things he skips over,
1) Like the side affects of medications used by The Ambulance service / Air ambulance. that can cause confusing of short term memory.
2) Personal View of events. It is well know for anyone involved in or witness an incident, will give a difference view on it, due to there own knowledge, experience and position at the time of incident.
3) Personal communication decisions. We (most of us) all filter what we say. when being interviewed will decide on the spot what is important to say and what is not.

So this is pulling apart information from people who where in a nasty crash, filled with medications shorty after the crash and have a mind to decide what they want to say to the public.

I like the rant he has, I think swearing comments is the only thing i agree with.

Ok, He is going on about audio in the other videos not having rides (one Oblivion) running, and people chatting. He is assuming the oblivion was dispatching at the time of the crash. and the video.

The crane comment, the train that stalled during testing was not removed the same day, we know the time scale on here, members verified it.

He asked why no one was filming from the same point, if there was he would call that proof of conspiracy. as for the bloke on the phone, he does not mention his clothing. the same colour as the testing crew for the smiler.
Ok, he thinks the screens on the spider is another ride.
This guy has no idea about the lay of the land and the time scales involved.

right two bad photos to compare together for Dan, really is that the best you can do photo wise?
he has a nice photo of the river Dee at Llangollen as his wallpaper.
bad photos, out of sequence. I like the photo from before the tattoo being used as proof its a difference person due to the tattoo vanishing.
vicky in snow gear, legs covered. how the heck does he know they are fine?
Where is the scientific method, Forensic facial mapping, such as photogrammetry, morphological analysis, to prove it is not just soft tissue changes. like changes in fat deposits on face.
Why wont he tell us why it a hoax, I wonder if he knows himself.

I'm all for a good false flag theory, but there is usually something to be gained from such an exercise (excuse for war, excuse for tightening "security" measures and removing civil rights, etc. etc.) I'm struggling to think what possible benefit Towers could gain from making people think their rides are unsafe.

Actually, he does have one correct point. The two photos of "dan" are not both dan. Both, however, were Vickys boyfriend at the time each photo was taken. As I recall, she broke up with dan a few months after the crash, so the second "dan" was actually a different boyfriend who she met a few weeks later (and recently broke up with).

The funniest part of the video though, has to be when "Vicky must be more than one actor as she's gained a lot of weight in this photo". Completely overlooking the fact that said photo is distorted and squashed so she looks much shorter and fatter than in any other photo.

The complete lack of common sense in the videos actually scares me. If it's not satirical, I think I've just lost faith in humanity.

I've heard that thew whole of cBeebies land was constructed to cover up an affair between two of the Squirrel Nutty 'Coaches'. I might get this guy to investigate? Hm? Hm? Hm?
