Rollercoaster Restaurant: General Discussion

Says a lot about food at both Towers and EP if the FoodLoop food is considered the worst food on park at EP yet it is better than almost all of the food at Towers! :tearsofjoy:

I'd have to disagree, the Spaghetti Bolognese I had at food loop could have been likened to a Findus frozen microwave version, very unpleasant and I'd have happily taken Alton's Gourmet Burger Kitchen over it any day :p

Each to their own, I've always really enjoyed the food in FoodLoop. Maybe being able to continually order Erdinger helps with that though! :p

I've still only been to Rollercoaster Restaurant once (opening night) so really need to get round to trying the daytime offerings to see how it compares.

:)

Likewise, I will probably give the FoodLoop another go next year and order something else :)

Typically out of the two, both have advantages and positives.

The Roller Coaster Restaurant is a new major eatery for the park and features much styling to tribute coasters at Towers past and present in dark, ish surroundings. Food level is typically very good and maybe beaten only by Woodcutters in quality.

Food Loop is a lot airy and open and features a higher capacity of tables. Food was acceptable, but not amazing. Even the quick service places had much better quality (which I found remarkably good in comparison).

Whilst I'm perhaps biased to preferring Food Loop more, Roller Coaster Restaurant wins it through food and Food Loop through atmosphere and probably being at my favourite park.

Had a very disappointing visit with my family last week during Scarefest. Queued for an hour which we didn't mind too much, got seated, meals arrived at different intervals and my parents meals turned up stone cold (literally), the portions were tiny, then a member of staff came up to us to say that glass had smashed in the kitchen and as a precaution they had to close the restaurant for an hour for a clean up. We did get 4 free drinks and 2 free cold half eaten plates of food, but felt more could have been done, none of the staff seemed to care and there were a lot of angry customers leaving. No manager around to try and ensure people didn't leave unhappy.

In the end we went over to Woodcutters and had nice hot meals and quick service at a far lesser price. Sadly the experience in RCR left a damper on the rest of the day, we felt a little drained and pretty annoyed, despite it not completely being Towers fault. Just very badly handled.

It's a shame there could have been no pre-booking for Scarefest and that the menu was very limited. The only options were steak and chips, or burger and chips (for adults) - other lunch meals on the menu the rest of the season had even been removed. I understand they would have wanted to cut the menu to deal with high volumes of guests, but for a premium dining experience you kind of expect more than what you can buy anywhere else on park. There were also no desserts available at all which was very disappointing.

It's the cold food that annoys me most. For the price you pay, you should not be receiving cold food. If a restaurant like Woodcutters can handle high volumes of guests and still deliver hot food, why can't RCR? They need to sort issues like this out before the main 2017 season.

The experience was the first time for my family, and it left a sour taste in their mouths, none of them ever want to go in there again. I went in the restaurant in August with my partner, and our experience was the polar opposite, hot food, orders arrived promptly and together, portions were huge, and we (at the time) thought we would love to visit again. After last week, I'm a little wary of visiting again, if I have a repeat experience in future I probably won't bother again.

We had a similar experience at Scarefest on the 21st. Not even half of the menu available and my sister had finished her food before i received mine, even though i had ordered before her. I also ordered an appletiser and they sent down a caprisun (?!?!) and then when i mentioned it to staff it still took them half an hour to get me what i had asked for.
It was a shame as i had a fantastic meal there earlier in the season and was excited to go back, now i think ill be sticking to Woodcutters.

We also had a similar experience over Scarefest, and cold food seems to a problem at the moment if the reviews on TripAdvisor are anything to go by. Four of us ordered and the food came out at different times, was lukewarm if that, and two dishes actually went missing. Horrible stench from the cleaning products they use on the tables, dirty cutlery, and a constant cold draft blowing in from the front door which is kept open by the people queuing to get in.

Really didnt enjoy it, would much rather have gone to Explorer's for the same price.

We queued for 40 minutes yesterday (fireworks Sunday) but were warned it was a 1hr15 wait. Being a party of two helped :)
The nibbles weren't available but everything else on web menu seemed to be on the touchscreen. I had ribs and they were good, my partner enjoyed his burger. Portions seemed fine, about the same as woodcutters but £2 more expensive. Big rip off was soft drinks, £2.95 for Diet Coke!
We really enjoyed RCR, the food came at different times, but we ordered separately so it wasn't a surprise and we were told if you want steak order well before anyone that wants burgers, I think they despactch each seat when ready, the kitchen doesn't know which seats are grouped. I think they could expand the menu slightly but I guess lunch is done for speed of service.

I could have made a working model for a fraction of that, I could have done with an extra £40,000 in my pocket, now for my next project :D

If this is the mentality behind spending it's no wonder the parks are struggling, £40k for s model, what an absolute joke.

Back in 1998 our local council spend £2000 replacing 4 toilet seats in the town hall, I knew the contractor (and worked at the council) the seats cost £20 each, that's just as crazy.

He was also fed horseshit since the Wardley Drop was only added just before construction started, so there's no way that model sold it to the park unless the person building it had a time machine. Some people will believe anything.

That £40k probably includes the cost of all the man hours at wherever to get the project to that stage. Really not a lot that considered.

Had a strange experience yesterday...

Took my family here for the first time, ordered our food, everyones came apart from mine, no one had informed us the WiFi had crashed which meant my order didn't go through.

The manager came to speak to us and gave me a souvenir pack, my meal for free and 20% discount for everyone else in the party.

My family loved the restaurant (despite the problems) and its probably the best customer service I've received from Towers :)

That's great :). Do you mind me asking what the souvenir park contained? Just curious.

Yeah sure...

He gave me a rollercoaster teddy, mug, key ring, magnet and both pin badges.

He originally asked if we'd like any complimentary drinks etc but it was getting late and I really wanted the pin badge so i only asked for that and he came back with the gift set!

During opening week we are in RCR and had the best meal since it has opened. The food was very very good indeed!
