Nintendo Switch

With the Nintendo Switch release only 2 days away, I thought it would go good to get a topic going.

Who has pre-ordered it?

What Games are you getting?

What Indie games are you looking forward to?

For those who do not know, please see some links below for what all the fuss is about:

Their is also a TST Nintendo Group where we share 3DS Codes, it is in the text file, and anyone can edit it and update their code. When the Switch is released, I will create a new file for Switch Codes. You can find the group below:

I have mine ordered and on its way, taking the day off work to take delivery :D
wish there were more games available for release day but have Breath of Fire and 1 2 switch so should keep me busy

I want one, and more the I see of it, the more it appeals to me. Not sure why though, is it the whole hybrid thing with the portability? The games? Whatever it is I hope to get back into the Nintendo scene and if I do get one I'll be getting Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (and maybe Zelda) alongside. Few other games I'd like as well, but not sure if I'm getting them on the Switch or PS4 yet.

@IanB If you're getting it, are you getting the red and blue version? For obvious reasons :p

I REALLY want one, but at the same time I just can't justify a purchase.
I'm gonna wait until the price goes down a smidgen, or more games that appeal to me come out -- whichever's first I suppose.
Still, excited to play Zelda. Interested in playing snipperclips with the girlfriend. And that Mario Oddesy game looks stellar. ;)

Admittedly on launch night I ummed and arred about getting one, but I made the jump and went and preordered. The price is a LOT higher than we initially expected. But then again, for something that can be used as both a home console and a handheld with AAA games it's not all that bad. You're essentially paying for two systems in one in a way, on top of the development costs involved in being an early adopter. That said, I can't see the price dropping anytime soon, so thought I'd go ahead and make the jump and buy it for day one.

That said, I don't think the Switch is without it's flaws. The launch announcement itself was underwhelming, and we should have the likes of Mario Kart both as a new game from ground up and on release date instead of nearly two months afterwards. I would've liked to see more solid release dates for some of the AAA titles too.

I am however looking forwards to the focus Nintendo seems to be putting on indie games, so it'll be interesting to see how it pans out. There's already a fair chunk announced, and it's also in the not too distant future too. In terms of games, on my "must have" is:

- Mario Kart Deluxe (yes, it's a port but I still want it!)
- Yooka Laylee (who doesn't want this!)
- Zelda (Ordered for launch, obviously)
- Runner3
- Splatoon 2
- Overcooked!
- Mario Odyssey
- Snipperclips

Whilst the launch titles are certainly a tad disappointing, there's plenty coming out in the coming months to keep things going. I'm certainly feeling more positive for the Switch than I did for the Wii U!

I've not got a console myself since the Wii and that Switch has not tempted me to change that quite yet. The price is far higher than I expected and unless you are a big Zelda fan (I never really have been) then the launch line up is somewhat disappointing.

It certainly looks like an interesting console though and there is a chance that Mario Odyssey could tempt me into getting one somewhere down the line.

I think it is fair to say that the Switch is pretty make or break when it comes to Nintendo and consoles; flop like the Wii U and they'll find it hard to recover. I can't see it being as popular as the Wii, there just doesn't seem to be the same hype around for a start, but hopefully it will perform as they need it to.

:)

It'll probably be termed a flop because of the awful launch titles available, the distinct lack of bundles (1-2 Switch should NOT be a £40 standalone), most of the features not available for an initial period and a real lack of understanding from Nintendo... I also don't really understand why they didn't go for a few common apps (Netflix for example) to try and make it more general tablet...

After the event I decided that I wouldn't be buying one until Christmas... There was nothing there that made me desperately want it now, especially since Zelda is obtainable on Wii U anyways!

I'll wait a year for the price drop and to see if 3rd party developers are still on board. As much as I love Nintendo and love Zelda, £300+ is way too much money for a console that is bound to get a refresh faster than PS4 and Xbox One to keep 3rd party support.

That being said, bring out an updated Donkey Kong and I'm in :D

Very interested in buying one, it's the portability and Zelda that sell it for me. However the price is just that little bit too high for me right now. I was pinning my hopes on the Gameseek PR stunt offer at £198, but that ship has sailed now. Will just have to save for a bit longer.

:banghead:
What next? Will they cover their next controler in blades to discourage people from shoving them up their arses?

As much as I want to agree clearly some people where willing to taste it, so maybe not so foolish after all.

But were they not tasting them only because they'd heard about this bitter additive and wanted to see how bad it was? I'll wager there will be a lot more people putting them in their mouths because of this. It's self defeating.

Just googled the chemical, same stuff "Bitrex" as put in "Stop and Grow" nail treatment to stop kids from biting their nails.
Now, as I wandered along the google trail, how come I ended up watching a video of turkeys circling a dead cat in the middle of the road??!!

I'll stick with my PS4 pro, and the godly game that is Horizon Zero Dawn. It's what real men play.

Nintendo are leagues behind and always will be.

BUT, they are up to today's times with ripping off buyers and bringing out season pass's, FOR A HAND HELD CONSOLE!
welcome to the band wagon Nintendo get to the back.

but ! when you have this epic game you need the switch in your life !

But you don't even need a Switch to play Zelda.............

To be fair the whole concept is actually good, DLC happened with Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros Wii U so it's not completely new for Nintendo to do that, their worse thing in regards to monetary theft is the Virtual Console stuff... Plus haven't they got rid of region locking for this?

Miles behind on online content, yet Splatoon is probably the best online multiplayer game in years! Presumably as it lacks 13 year olds swearing at you...
