Fantasy Island

Who would be the human form of Alton Towers? Charlie Parker maybe...capable of sheer brilliance but was drug-addled and missed numerous performances due to it.

From their facebook page

"After a long wait we have finally received the required parts for The Odyssey train from our supplier. Our team of engineers will diligently rebuild the train over the next couple of days. If the weather permits and no other problems arise you’ll see The Odyssey being tested on Sunday, ready for customer use on Monday."

Wind permitting that is lol

Lol! I actually find that quite amusing. Nobody smiles regarding Odyssey - it's never open and it's rough as anything :p

But it's a decent ride

There's like a ridiculous amount going at FI at the moment, going by the Fantasy Islanders page on Facebook! 6 new rides for 2017, plus a 10 pin bowling Alley and 18 hole multi level golf course.

Also seems like there shuffling a ton of rides around again, with the go Karts, dodgems and kids rides all on the move!

All this plus the Millennim coaster is supposed to be getting repainted!

They could do. £3.5 million may not be a lot for somewhere like Towers, but for a seaside amusement park this is a massive investment (assuming it's not an accounting trick, and represents a genuine investment over what they'd have invested anyway over the winter on routine maintenance, marketing etc)

.If they're all flat rides then they could well be new. You can pick up a decent new children's flat ride for under £100,000 and a decent family flat ride for £300,000. It's possible that they'll get six new rides. At the same time Mellors already own quite a few travelling rides, so it could be some of these, and indeed they may have got a bargain from Pleasure Island. Particularly if they're not all flat rides. If they have the space for something like the Vekoma roller skater, then that's a good ride.

£3.5m in Fantasy Island terms is like £60m in Alton terms... ;)

They've said that the 6 new rides are junior and family rides though. Sort of makes sense given that they do have a solid thrill ride line up already.

My guess is that a lot of the kids stuff is going indoors. They're heavily modifying the inside of the Pyramid, probably to make it a proper indoor park for when the weather is poor.

The Go Karts from under the Odyssey have gone where the Burger King building is, God knows what they'll put under the Odyssey!

Good to hear of a park like this finally getting the love it needs, its all to common to hear of parks having to close

I for one welcome any kind of investment :)

Pics on the fan page on Facebook show market stalls being demolished to make way for the expansion of the Amusement Park!

Time for a wee Fantasy Island update!

- An area of market stalls has been demolished and some of the rides have been moved there, including some kids rides and Techno Jump

- More market stalls have been taken down near to Amazing Confusion, as well as the catering outlets (beside the ride) having their permits revoked.

- Amazing Confusion is up for sale.

- New ride being built up beside the road, probably a kids ride so don't get excited.

- Mellors Crazy Mouse coaster has turned up in the car park of Fantasy Island

- Practically all rides from the Dubai Fantasy Island have been put up for sale (why they didn't just bring a few to Lincolnshire I do not know...)

Any reduction of the market is most welcome. :) Though I'm confused as to why they would add a second spinning mouse?

They're obviously not adding a second. My guess would be making a swap to maybe carry out work on the Fantasy Mouse?

Or just storage. Although it's not the most secure of car parks.

Went on Saturday (15th) for the first time, and had a really good day! Highlights included The Volcano and Millennium (my first coaster with vertical loops!!).
Two other notable things happened that were either funny or unexpected:

1. When we went on Mystical Dragon Mountain, my boat stopped just after leaving the launch platform, and the poor operator had to actually crawl inside and give me a push!

2. When we went on the Rhombus Rocket, the restraints were locked and we were waiting to go, when an alarm sounded an announcement told staff to report somewhere and that there was a "code blue". the staff on the Rhombus Rocket started running around like headless chickens, then unlocked the restraints and shouted at us to get out of the train. Some people went down the exit while some people (including us) waited on the platform. 10 or so minutes later we heard that it was a practice, and were able to get back on and enjoy the ride (which i did).

Great day though, and Millennium was awesome!
Also, the Pyramid's theming is, in my view, outstanding for a UK park, and the projection mapping on the mountain was amazing!
