Media Coverage of Alton Towers

I think they are evacuating more since the incident. It does seem quite likely that they aren't restarting rides with guests on board.
That was my thinking - in parks I've worked in, we would evacuate only when a mechanical fault meant you couldn't restart the ride, due to the risks of guests on catwalks etc. I remember a story last year on Colossus where there was a climb down apparently because of a guest using a mobile phone. That would suggest that after an E-Stop the procedure is to evacuate, rather than restart with riders on board.

Ps. Check your PMs.

Alton towers management must be getting sick of the gutter press by now, it wouldn't surprise me if such press outlets are served with warning papers by their legal teams before the end of this year as their scaremongering must be damaging their business.

Merlin will surely have to do something... Next year Alton Towers has it's next coaster coming, the media are really going to batter the parks newest addition if it continues this way...

I do know however that AT really appreciate all the support they are getting from the public, so keep up the positive VIBES on the social media channels peeps!

Edit:

Just a thought, but I think every time from now on anyone visits Alton Towers, they should send a tweet to Alton, and include in @MailOnline to say what a great day they had, and up yours to the DM (as I have just done this very second). Just fill their twitter feed with positive comments about Alton, rather than the odd photo sent in by someone just after attention.

Anyone know if there has been breakdowns and evacuation at drayton manor since their major ride incident?

This would not work. News agencies report this stuff because it generates interest and traffic to their sites. This instance is a perfect example where it got reported because it appeared on Twitter, where other stoppages have not because no one cared.

If you tag the Hate Mail, if will make them worse as it's a safe bet story to keep on recycling, they're not bothered being hated when there's hysteria to whip up and money to be made, they never have and never will.

To be honest, I don't know why we get so emotional about it on here. The more we all jump up and down and get upset, the more interest is generated in the subject and the story is kept alive.

I really think people on here read to much into the effect these stories still have on the park. These stories are little more than clickbait now and where dying out until the Drayton incident revived them a bit, there's very little public interest out there.

Why is because its this sort of stuff which has the potential to close the place down.

If it didnt bother Towers then why do they keep releasing videos responding to every breakdown reported explaining why it stopped

Because, sadly, a select proportion of the general public will believe this scaremongering and assume the place is unsafe and not visit. This could and is having a damaging effect on Alton's gate figures, Alton release these videos in an effort to explain why breakdowns occur and reassure people who may believe the media's smear campaign.

This kind of prooves my point, you're putting the Daily Mail on a pedestal.

Crediting them with the potential downfall of Alton Towers is not only outrageously overstating their power and influence but is also exactly what they WANT you to think

It bothers them in the same way any bad publicity would. Towers are simply responding to a smeer campaign by responding in a factual and informative way. Absolutely the right approach in my opinion as it basically aims to neutralise negative coverage rather than fight it or give it credence that it doesn't deserve.

Alton towers is a major brand. All major brands get attacked and attacked and attacked. Unless of course that major brand uses the newspaper to advertise!!!
