A panel of smiler's ride area fence by the mens toilets had broken and people could easily gain access to the ride area, when I spotted it I went down to tell the person on entrance who phoned the op. Next thing I know (the ride was down when I spotted the fence) it was testing so I reported it again this time to a different person as they had swapped places. The new person again phoned the op and reported the problem, a few minutes later the ride reopened I was just starting to get really angry at this point. Lucky the 2nd op turned up by chance and I said follow me, you have a MAJOR problem on your hands. Once they saw it the ride was closed again and the fence fixed. So my question is was the fence checked Friday morning?

and yet you posted about it on the main public facebook page and now on this pubic forum so the gutter press rags could potentially pic up on it ...

IMO they are asking for trouble and a part of me wants the papers to find out but that's a small part, to go back to the original question do you know if it was checked Friday morning

You'd have thought that staff on the entrance to The Smiler make take comments like that slightly more seriously after what happened in June 2015. Take responsibility and do something about it!

:)
Is it possible that people are just saying stuff like that falsely so much they just ignored him?

What's worse is the op in question was on smiler at the time of the crash (I mean she was one of many ops not the one there at the time) the same goes for the 2nd person on entrance, would an open ride area be a legit reason for the E-stop being hit? I'm guessing yes.

If someone entered the area it would be

There's not a chance that Towers operational procudures allow a ride to be run with an unsecured ride area. If they do then their procedures need looking at but I am confident that this will be in there somewhere.

:)

Would it be worth moving the discussion to its own thread? I also would think they would account for all the trains on the track before manually sending one off the top of the lift.

No need for a new thread. And I think the second issue you raise has been covered more than enough times not only on here but by the HSE, courts and national media!

:)

Wow at least nobody ventured in to the ride area, I'm not sure the same could be said for Thorpe clientele.
