Media Coverage of Alton Towers

We're you on it too? At least it wasn't as windy as it was on Monday, that would have made even me seasick being stuck on that.

Skyride seems to be stopping a lot lately. Both times I was recently up there it kept having lengthy stoppages. Staff said it was for disabled guests but it seemed too frequent and too lengthy for that.

Alton towers is a major brand. All major brands get attacked and attacked and attacked. Unless of course that major brand uses the newspaper to advertise!!!

Which Alton Towers and Merlin do, all of the time..!

RE. Skyride - it does seem to be stopping a lot more than usual this season. I have no idea why that is.

:)

In my cynical mind it irks me that those writing the articles will be trying their hardest to get on SW8 press days. I also imagine that AT won't want to rock the boat too much, as they will be relying on the press to advertise their new coaster. Especially to casuals and families who may not follow AT on social media/forums etc...

They have heavy advertisement in the local area

When I lived in Milton Keynes I would see and ad now and then mostly for the big rides

Since I've moved to Buxton I see an ad pretty much every ad break

They will have probably put a small retraction in the next day

*We said the Alton Towers Oblivion riders were stuck for 3 hours when in fact they were stuck for 10 minutes

Do they advertise in the daily heil and mirror? That's who after them!

Heavy social media next year. Kelloggs and the scum. As usual. Other papers will report opening teething problems with the ride. As they do now. People only really take to twitter/facebook to moan. Breeding ground for hacks.

So I'm guessing the fact Galatica got stuck on the lift hill this morning for 10 minutes hasn't made the Daily Fail?

Typical of my luck we missed the fun by one train.

Nice positive article. Only BS is the CBeebies hotel being "the first of its kind in the world", when Merlin have done decorated prefab Premier Inns in almost all their theme parks now!

Was thinking on a visit to the waterpark the other day how great Splash Landings was as a fairly standard hotel but designed creatively and with a really fun themed offering (moreso before the extra tackiness came in), the difference between this and the latest hotel outings is obvious, but the CBeebies IP wrapper is too tempting for most.

It's vital for us to continue creating new rides, attractions, shows and accommodation that are individual and unique, and we're already looking at our longer term plans to ensure that we can keep pace with our ambition to achieve this.

I hope these plans include bringing back some form of entertainments outside of CBeebies, Mr Crabbe.

It may be that, but when a toddler walks into THIS

They don't care.

In an ideal world we'd all be toddlers looking at things through a fisheye lens and high saturation but the more actual substance and fun stuff to do behind this hotel the better. That looks good and fun for youngsters. Unfortunately for people paying hundreds of pounds there's not a great deal more to it.
