Phew! That's relieving, as wristbands are only £19.50 each! Do wristbands let you have rerides, or is it one ride per attraction?
Wristbands = unlimited rides
Tickets = pay £6 to get in then buy tickets for each ride.. cheaper than wristband if you want to only go on one or two rides.
"Big One Ride" Ticket = £10, entrance and one ride on a big coaster = cheaper than tickets and cheaper than wristband (not checked the pricing or if this still exists recently but it was £10 a couple of years ago)

Or the simple answer Matt. Yes. Unlimited rerides.

And the Big new season news...
Bernard is now selling a modest selection of pies behind the bar of FY4...steak, potato and meat, or cheese and onion.
I am not sure of their provenance, but you can bet they are not southern.
Bottled bitter is still at southern prices sadly.
Four quid a pint.
Though still not as bad as the three quid for a plastic half pint bottle of lager at the bar by Oblivion in its early days, six quid a pint...Two bloody decades ago!

Staff were commenting on how quiet FY4 was last weekend without the Mouse. Did you notice if this had improved this week?

Not been this weekend Ash, strangely enough, been doing missionary work in Yorkshire, trying to convert tykes into Lancastrians...in the Winter Gardens in sunny Harrogate...'spoons of course.

I think guest experience has tumbled down in the last season at BPB with the dark rides in states of neglect, the park doesn't look as well polished (with the exception of Icon of course) and now the first impression upon entering the park is a fountain with a warehouse and the back of the River Caves/Ghost Train as a backdrop. Then you have the lower capacity, speedy pass and questionable opening hours.

Given that Icon is opening this year, I would have hoped that BPB would prioritise getting the park into a presentable condition rather than leaving many areas looking tired, not looking after the themed experience dark rides and the park just generally feels quite neglected.

Of course, if the park is looking shiny and fresh come Icon's opening day, I'll happily eat my words! :)

I thought the dark rides were in much better shape today than this time last year. River Caves in particular is looking a lot better, mainly as it's darker so you can't see most of the grime. Also those awful bubble tubes have finally gone from the underwater scene. Admittedly I can't comment on Valhalla, which inexplicably had a queue half way round the pens at 4.45 so we skipped it.

Valhalla was terrible on opening weekend.

  • Odin switched off, speaker on but so quiet you can barely hear it
  • Lift-hill 1 soundtrack off
  • Trommel tunnels on lift 1 still broken
  • Barking dogs audio sensor still broken
  • Barking dog animatronic didn't appear to be functioning fully on my two rides
  • One fire plinth working
  • Steam room good on Saturday, one side working on Sunday
  • Cascading waterfalls broken
  • Door on backwards drop missing meaning light leaks into wind scene and exposes workings of the ride
  • Ice room the hottest room in the ride (and no ice, snow or ceiling misters)
  • Mist on first drop off
  • Water vortex off (thankfully!)
  • Swinging chandelier broken
  • Hammers off
  • Arrows not all working on rolling log effect
  • Fire last explosion "boom" still not working
  • No effort made to disguise newly installed CCTV cameras throughout the ride meaning the immersion is completely ruined
  • Station soundtrack only playing out of one speaker

In addition, one of the boats I rode in had no floor foot-wells, meaning there was nowhere to escape the water!

And, worst of all.

DISCO LIGHTS on the first lifthill?!

Mist on first drop off

I don't think the first drop mist was working at all last season. Wouldn't surprise me if it never returns. Shame as i think that is one of the better effects.

But if there is one dark ride effect I would love to see again it would be the squirting elephant in river caves. Does anyone know how many years it's been since it was working ?
