2018: Park Operations & Ride Availability

I think all the lift guide wheels coming off is a slightly bigger deal than a damaged fence.

The fence is just there to keep people out, but won't stop a determined enough idiot. Bits of the ride falling off on the other hand is potentially dangerous to everyone.

I think being ignored when trying to report a dangerous defect was probably more the issue than the fence itself.

I found a broken circlip in the Nemesis queue which I handed over to a ride host. Now it could have been off anything and could have been lying there for an age. He thanked me and told me they would report it to maintenance. Always better safe than sorry.

It's possible that Rita might be out of action today. I was there yesterday and there was a sound of a massive pneumatic leak. Everyone safely evacuated from the ride and fasttracks issued to those already in the queue. Of course, I'm waiting for the Sun headline 'BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE AT DANGER TOWERS'. Or something to that effect.

I like how people skirted around the subject and played the pronoun game, I mean bloody hell a fence was broken, what else is the ride host meant to do but report it to ride ops who would in turn report it to team leader and so on...

There's a process, and enthusiasts constantly badgering over stuff ("I'm an enthusiast so I know better") does not help anyone...

Be interesting to see what operations and trip advisor feed back is today. They can't blame the weather as it's a cool overcast day. From reading trip advisor from yesterday it would seem that wickerman spent most of the day down and even hex broke at some point.

Think I'm way too obsessed with this now. But bitterness will do that to you.

Even though you had a bad experience at Towers the other day, give it another chance - watch this vlog which was filmed on the day I was in the park (Thurs 7th June) and while probably not as busy as the day you visited, it shows it is possible to have a great day at the park.

The vlog is nothing to do with me but as I say I was on park that day and Fri 8th, and both days were fantastic from operations to the weather to general experience. I've had my bad days there over the years (been going since around 1994) but those bad visits are far outweighed by the good ones - even in today's era of cost cutting in the park etc.

And personally, I wouldn't rely on Trip Advisor for honest reviews, I never look at that site for anything and don't always take notice of many product reviews online. In fact if I took notice of reviews on Amazon, I'd never have bought half the stuff I have! I guess it's human nature to complain when bad things happen but never comment when things are good.

Cheers for that. I am genuinely curious as well to be honest.

I postponed a trip earlier in the season because of poor operations and rescheduled for this Sunday. I hope things have been sorted out with Wickerman by then.

You called it it's currently unavailable. As is wickerman

Now it's open I bet not for long though

I agree about having a bad day in Alton whereas other times you can have an amazing day. Unfortunately, and this is one of my biggest bug bears about Alton, is that its not a consistent park. Although I go several times a year, whereas in the past I knew I would have an amazing time, the past few years, I almost go up expecting to have a not so good day.

Unfortunately, this is very apparent at Scarefest, where the weekends can vary so dramatically in terms of the quality of the mazes and the atmosphere on park.

So I wouldnt give up on the place, but I wouldnt rush back unless you go midweek when the schools are still in classes, or otherwise, September once the schools have gone back is usually a good time to go.
