The World of David Walliams: General Discussion

@themeparkfan has hit the nail on the head... that would be easier said than done, as I'm sure Disney are very protective of such a lucrative brand. Not saying that Merlin wouldn't do the brand justice, but Disney has never really been one to license its brands to other parks, especially not in recent years. The only possible example I can think of is Alice Ride at BPB, and they probably wouldn't have licensed Marvel to Universal had the agreement not existed prior to their acquisition of Marvel.

Walt Disney actually gave the Thompson family the plans for the original Alice ride that was built at Disneyland, and Blackpool built a near replica!

But on the topic of this thread, it would seem that a re-theme of CCL next year is off the cards which is a shame.

:)

Just let it go....let it go.

It's good that Disney holds its brands to their chests because they're not wanted. It would destroy the uniqueness of Towers.

Send them to Thorpe instead, hopefully on top of Love Island.
I think your right in sending it to Thorpe I think the song alone will shut towers down 10,000 kids screaming it out would deter the public lol

Didn't Merlin change their investment cycle from High, Medium, Low, Low to High, Low, Medium, Low which would now mean that a medium investment would be expected in 2020 rather than 2019?

I've no idea what they're current investment cycle is, it has changed a lot and seems quite flexible, plus The Smiler crashing and putting SW8 back by a year messed things up for Towers.

:)

Vikings would be too scary for kids historically in the same park with rides based off a crashed landed alien, going through medical procedures to be happy/smile, pirates, being sacrificed in a pagan ritual and haunted things?

Ah right. Thanks @Rob!

With regards to CCL, I'm thinking they'll pull something special out of the bag for the park's 40th anniversary in 2020. We shouldn't realistically expect them to invest huge amounts just a year after Wicker Man set them back £16m, so the Dungeons is probably quite enough for 2019!

Earlier I was thinking about the future of the Twirling Toadstool and I thought that it would be pretty cool if Alton Towers were to relocate the ride to Fountain Square and retheme it to the Chained Oak to tie it in with Hex! I know it'll obviously not happen, but I think it would be such a missed opportunity. It would have freed up some space in CCL in preparation for a retheme / new rides, plus Merlin would have been able to market it as new, rather than simply "returning"...

Rob how come?

It sounds like the idea of a Dungeons attraction is more likely. Although I am not at all convinced that Towers/Merlin have even made up their minds about what to do in 2019 which is concerning.

Just seen a tweet hinting at upcoming news from alton towers. It looks like we’ll be seeing some news possibly about next year’s developments from towers in coming days...

It'll either be that, or they could be about to reveal some more details on this years new Scarefest maze, Project 42. :)

I noticed last week when we come off wickerman and my daughter and her mate were filling out the I pad questions the 2nd was " I would pay for an all year round scare attraction " strongly agree, agree etc...... Think that is a big hint a dungeon attraction is on its way?
