Fireworks 2018

I've asked Alton of FB this question too, but if last year was anything to go by, we were told that hotel MAP guest had to pre-book to only be told that we didn't need too. I did get a full refund though.

Heads up, wheelchair viewing is now available for reservation, but not all request will be successful

Sorry for double post. Just got a reply from Alton and yes Hotel guest with passes do not need to pre-book :)

They cap fireworks well below the maximum capacity of the park, it won't be as busy this weekend as either of the last 2 Saturdays.

Expect long queues all round though.

I beleive that the capacity for fireworks is around 20,000. So busy, but not as busy as the busiest days this season.

:)

This is my first time at the event. Are there any places to avoid or aim to go to, for viewing the fireworks?

If it's any guide, TST usually goes for the raised area at the bottom of Towers Street between Towers St Bar and Corner Coffee. I find we get more height, so won't have as much of a risk of having the lower field of vision obscured, plus it's quite conveniently located if anyone wants to go to the bar and get a drink or two. :p

I'm not sure that the capacity has changed at all but I think there may well have been people who pre-booked tickets last year but did not turn up.

:)
