Park reasonably busy and they actually had big Dipper on 2 trains meaning only a 10 minute queue

Excellent.

I was told on my way into the park that one train is basically knackered

OK hang on a minute. So if one is on the ride, two is knackered, where is three?

and they are getting a new train next season

:tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:

Park closed at 5pm and probably should have stayed open later really

:banghead:

Lovely day with the tykes, excellent company with my selfish fellow coaster fans.
Good fun, rides, beer and sweeties, and just remember shakey, if the Big One was on two, we wouldn't have got a precious night ride.
Now done four front Icon seats with four different freaks in four days...and I spotted you on Sunday morn Ash.
I heard it was the transfer track being duff on the Big One that is the biggest issue, and there are only two running trains, one fast, one slow.
Looking forward to last day Sunday with "Scott's lot", but the closed season just won't be as exciting this year.
Your round dippy.

I doubt the issues on The Big One are caused by a broken train, as they should have a third ready to go. I'm led to believe the transfer track is the main issue, but it isn't good enough either way.

Great day yesterday. Big Dipper queue really shifting on two trains, as it should be in a school holiday week. Shame Nash on one set but staff were quicker than normal at getting the trains on their way. Whatever the problem is with Big One I hope it’s sorted soon, no wind yesterday so weather cannot possibly be an excuse. Even a part sandbagged train would have been helpful when the queue is way down the ramp. That said, I guess if said train and/or transfer track is broken then it simply wasn’t gonna happen. Joined queue just in time after twilight Icon ride and it was completely dark by the time we rode Big One. It’s quite a few years since I’ve done it in the dark as queues normally stop me from bothering. It really was sensational.

@Coaster did you renew your season pass in time for the discount rate after your “Farcical, terrible, absolute shambles of a day” last Saturday? :D

I’ll wager near enough all current season pass holders are renewing, regardless of how much they’ve moaned this season. Only a few hours left of the £90 renewal offer. Sorted mine. My enjoyment of the place and its rides far outweighs any minor niggles. Really enjoyed this season on the whole. Roll on 2019. My round

Decided that I'm not renewing for 2019, can't justify it after the poor customer service this year, particularly regarding unannounced early closures.

Having only made it through the gates once this season, I shan’t be bothering. Despite living 20 minutes away, I would much rather save my pennies and spend them elsewhere these days. I used to visit 10-12 a season, but since 2015 I’ve mustered once a year. I think my love for the park these days is more nostalgia than actually enjoying the product on offer.

No, I'm fairly sure I'll be moving to Tampa part way through the year, so I won't get enough visits to Alton Towers to make sense to buy one (plus I don't like the direction Merlin are going :p). I live much closer to BPB though, so a season pass there would have made more sense.
Ah, so you've got Busch Gardens and the other umpteen parks in the Florida cohort to look forward to! Have fun!

Whether people have chosen to renew or not, it's only right that PB are criticised if things aren't good. Saturday was pitiful.

Booked my pass yesterday with a couple of hours to spare, sounded very busy.
Had to book on the premium line, the customer services line was constantly stacked.

And I take it your above comment means you got your pass Jamie! Just avoid the Halloween Saturday...worst day of the year to visit on a season pass.

...and I was behind you in the queue ash, I would have said hello as you were getting off, but I was distracted by a free back seat swap with a short child...bonus back seat.

Rob, was just about to say that to Jamie too! Premium phone calls? You could have clicked the link in the renewal offer email, and paid by PayPal / bank card in under a minute. When is your next library lesson? :D

And where is the clucking email to click a link on then?
Not in my little inbox.
They don't send my any.
Because I get naughty on Icon.
Crevettes at 2.
Your round.
Edit.
And spooky, I was just thinking about the library now I have gone on winter hours...now the coasters are drying up.

Have you checked your junk mail folder? Are you sure your computer is turned on? :D

‘Get your season pass today for £99.99’ email received 15 Oct and ‘Renew your season pass today for just £90’ email received 2 days later

I didn't get an email either.
