Blackpool Pleasure Beach: General Discussion

At the time it was the cheapest possible price.
A few weeks later it wasn't.
Very common business practice.
Especially in Blackpool!
More chance of icon getting its mirrors dusted than you getting a tenner off Mandy Jamie!
It's a little bit different when they're charging renewals more than people buying passes for the first time.

I'm sure it's made them a bit of money short term, but long term things like just serve to damage the park further.

What do they think will happen next year when renewals come around? How can we trust the price they advertise when the passes are likely to be put on sale for a cheaper price a few weeks later? And if they don't go on sale again, they will have lost us as customers.

As always Jamie, it will be a bit of a gamble...has been for about a decade.
Always fun comparing what other people paid in the end.
What I can't decide is if I should get a cheap towers pass as well?

And if it was Merlin doing it, would people be so easy on them? (Not saying you are anti-Merlin, Pro BPB but I know many would be like that on here)

It's never happened to us before, we've renewed each year since 2014 without any issues like this.

In other news, it looks like more of the Bowladrome has gone.

They've been doing up Beach Amusements (the one by the entrance, it's had new doors, painted window frames, new outside signage - don't know what's happened inside but maybe they've put the "best" of all the machines from there and bowladrome together, if indeed it's been demolished.Should be able to tell if it's still there or not on 2nd when I drive past in to work.

There’s not too much in the way of a refurbishment inside, however there has for quite a while been an area at the Pasaje del Terror end which has been cordoned off and left empty. If they are moving machines across, then the clearance of this space makes sense, although that space has been cleared for most of the season; certainly since before Bowl-a-Drome started to drop pieces off its facade.

Really hoping for a Giant Intamin Gyro Swing in the Bowl-a-drome area within the next few years. I think it would be a real hit for the PB. Maybe since ICON has gone down so well with influence from Helix at Liseberg they should do the same again only this time from Loke.

Really hope to see some world class Flat rides brought back to Blackpool over the next 5-10 years. With limited amount of space, flat rides make perfect sense going forwards for the park.

Also would like to see Ice Blast replaced with a new flat at some point. It really has lost a lot of it's appeal and force. Maybe one of the Lay down ones from Busch gardens would be a good replacement.

You mean an Intamin Sky Jump. ;)

I agree, both one of those and a gyro swing would be great. :) Maybe the park could get them together from Intamin, in a package/deal?

Love the restraints on Loke. I do think it would be a good addition to the park and also unlike anything else they have.

I suspect the Wild Mouse site would be a little small to locate it with the Ghost Train on one side, but perhaps Trauma Towers could?

Reading between the lines here, it seems to me that some people are wishing BPB would turn in to a clone of Liseberg.
... Why not just go to Liseberg? ;)

I'm no great fan of flat rides tbh however these things are absolutely brilliant. Very thrilling, comfortable and impressive off-ride too.

Why don't you like them out of interest?
Because when he goes on such rides he tends to puke up over my trainers...
Spinny rides generally tend to become less fun as you get older.

I'm not great with 'spinny' rides either. I'm now 33 too so not a spring chicken.

However these rides don't spin that fast and for some reason they don't make me Ill like a waltzer would.

Yeah, I will never ride a waltzer but I love Maelstrom at Drayton. Not sure if I would be able to handle the giant ones though.
