The Alton Towers Dungeon

Yes we do. All the scene's characters have already been revealed around the park during Scarefest marketing and it's just copy and paste from the other Dungeons. It certainly isn't Alton's lore they'd be teaching in the education packages either.
Ah right. Thanks for the clarification @Danny!

It was mentioned on the booking page for the new season pass that the dungeons will contain five scenes and a boat ride.

This has since been removed and replaced with “laugh and scream in 2019” so could be a mistake or they might not have meant to release it yet.

There were only five posters around the park, which could mean there is only five scenes: plague doctor, judge, torturer, highway man and the haunting.

Pretty much all dungeons use the same copy and paste format, so I can’t see this being any different, if anything it will probably be more budget as you won’t be paying anywhere near as much as you would for the likes of the London or Blackpool dungeons.

I think the first 2 years will be a trial, seeing how it goes with the dungeons in the existing theme park. If a success, I think it will move to the exterior of the theme park and then expand in size, to become an attraction which can be visited without having to enter the theme park. Wouldnt surprise me if they then roll out the concept to other Merlin parks in the future.

The Warwick Castle Dungeon featured a judge scene, same as the London Dungeon, but the script was very different, I was on trial for weeing on the walls of Warwick (or something like that). So although the characters might be copied, the scenes should at least be customised.

Would be shocking if it was just five generic Dungeon scenes with nothing on local/Alton history.

Not that it matters, it'll be gutted of actors and probably open on weekends only after a few months.

It'll be copy and pasted like every other Midway attraction... Probably even down to using the same recorded dialogue in some sections (if they use any)...

Well, the room with the leeches that scuttle across the seats this year will be based on the Merlin boardroom, with the leeches replaced by management, scurrying around to bleed every penny out of their guests.

While the "doctor" will rip the very heart out of the resort and show it to everyone.

The end scene will be the drop shed, where everyone will be crammed into one of the new enchanted sheds, and shown a promotional video about stargazing, before the floor opens and drops all their expectations into a pit, never to be seen again.

Dungeons ticket info has been updated on the Towers website.

It looks like the Dungeons will cost £5pp in advance either via an add on ticket or a combo ticket. Or £7.50pp on the day.

A one day combo ticket with theme park and Dungeons can be booked online for £38 or you can buy a one off Dungeons ticket for £5.

It is not recommended for under 10s.

If the attraction is good (and I choose to believe it will be until proven otherwise) then I think that is a fair price. If it means maintaining actors and effects

It’s early days so I guess it’s all subject to change but the fact you have to book a Dungeons time slot when booking does give you some info about times etc.

For example the first time slot you can book is 10am so it seems the Dungeons will open at the same time as the park (no staggered openings here, shock horror :p).

On opening weekend (and all weekends and during Easter holidays) the latest time you can book is 3:45pm - if the experience lasts an hour that perhaps suggests a 5pm ride close.

Off peak midweek the latest time slot is 2.45pm - so 4pm closes are perhaps here for another season?

From 1st May onwards you can only book a 1pm slot at the moment, I guess they haven’t decided on the park hours beyond that date yet.

I am really struggling to see why you would take an hour out of a 10-4 day for one attraction (and pay an upcharge) when you will have already paid at least £33 for your theme park ticket. By the time you have had lunch you are talking about 4 hours ride time left.

It would be better if they could at least keep the Dungeons open slightly later so that the last time slot was at ride close, then you get longer in the park and finish the day with the Dungeons. I would expect more people would be prepared to cough up the money and give it a go if that was an option.

Given that ride close is queue close time normally, I would have expected last entry for Dungeons to be same as ride close and you exit the park an hour after ride close, same as if you had joined an hour long ride queue.

If this is true then that's not really fair considering the Premium Season Pass includes 1 entry per day. Unless they are being specific in that the standard MAP doesn't include it but the Premium MAP will:

Yeah I expect it’s not included in standard but either free or a very minimal amount for premium. And certainly free for those VIP.

Nothing has been confirmed for VIP yet, I wouldn't be 100% sure either
