I assume that some of these details have been taken from last week's radio show, but Europa Park's Place have revealed the following list of new attractions/changed for 2019:

The updates to the ‘rebuilt’ Scandinavia look charming yet refreshing. I’m certainly surprised the colour choice is considerably different but glad the building designs seem very similar. I can’t see many parks rebuilding older areas to the standard Europa have done.
I do wonder what the footprint of Vineta will be replaced with if it definitely isn’t coming back. Is it a different attraction? A restaurant? Or simply more access space? I guess we will have to see.
I do wonder whether these will open for the start of the season or later on? Especially as Fjord probably won’t open until the new tunnel and other elements around have been sorted.
I look forward to Batavia 2.0.

What was the basement of Scandinavia used for before? I assumed it was either a staff area or something to do with Batavia.
It would be amazing if Vineta became the entrance to an attraction similar to the diamond mine. It would actually become the experience most people expected it to be!
Thinking about it the concept art is missing the steps that used to go right down to the rapids level (which I assumed was for accessing the lower level of Vineta). You can see them in this picture:

I'm not sure what was in the basement of Scandinavia before, I assume that it was some sort of storeage area.
Europa-Park Fans have noticed the following image which was part of a video the park released in the build up to Voletarium:
The space shown looks to be a very similar shape to that of Scandinvia. So have the park had plans for a ride here longer than we thought?

I've said before that it is all very convenient that they are able to re-launch Scandinavia in the park alongside the Scandinavian/Nordic themed hotel and waterpark!
However you do not brun your own park down when tens of thousands of guests are inside unless you want to seriously risk deaths and the charges that would follow.

Yeah, it's not the Mack way of doing things is it!?
It may however have been an accident caused by some preparation for these works behind the scenes.

The official investigation by the police stated that the fire was caused by an electrical fault in the area of the Fjord Rafting tunnel. When you see photos and videos of how the fire started and spread then this does seem to be the case. Started in the tunnel, went up to the costume/backstage area, spread in to the Pirates building before moving over to engulf Scandinavia.

Spirit of London (probably the best dark ride left in this country now) was also built through an old basement, pretty cool!

Looking at the photos from winter, they seem to be working at the rapids end of the site the most, I imagine that is what they will want to finish before the season starts so the rapids can open all season. Then they can concentrate on the rest of the area and pirates.

Michael Mack just tweeted this.
Very interesting indeed. Could this perhaps be the new basement under the Scandinavian alley? Certainly looks as though it could be
Or if it’s not that, it still looks to be something to do with the reconstruction work that’s currently taking place in the area
