Hmmm! The physical scenes look charming and make brilliant use of the limited space, clearly. However, I just really dislike the Mack Media CGI. It feels tacky and mid-00s, and it's exemplified by that weird video dome sequence.

Looks charming. No doubt their best "kiddy" dark ride. Obviously a few timing issues to sort out. And have to agree that the screen section at the end seems tacked on.

I think this is a great addition, but I have to agree that some of the CGI is like a PS3 game’s graphics. The dome at the end would work far better in a trackless ride, whereas at the moment it looks clunky.

The best bit though? Definitely the sign about not flashing the mermaids.

I hope this encourages EP to create more rides of a similar ilk. Arthur is still a triumph and I think this will reach a similar, if slightly younger demographic.

Assuming Pirates in Batavia opens next year as planned, that’ll be 3 new dark rides in 3 years for Europa. Very good to see the park improve their dark ride selection - even if 2 were consequences of the fire.

Four in four years with Voletarium.

A dark ride focus was needed. It was probably the park’s weakest aspect a few years ago.

Agreed with what's been posted so far.

The majority of the ride and queue area looks a delight. Some nice, modern effects. For a 'bonus' addition, we cannot complain. I'll certainly be interested to compare with the ATR 2020 project, which is of similar scale!

Issues of note: clunky screen section and unsure how well this will tie in. Also, small footprint means you see scenes before you actually are meant to.

Hopefully said issues will be ironed out.

I'm riding next week so will post fuller feedback.

Yay for EP opening a ride early!

    Charming ride. Throughput looks low.

I finally got to visit the new Scandinavia last week. First and foremost, it is fantastic to have this wonderful area back at Europa-Park.

The area is similar to the original; buildings are in the same places and of very similar shapes, it feels just as narrow as it did, the cobbled street is back and the original stone fountain retained. However, there are obvious differences. The buildings are noticeably taller, which I did not find a problem, and due to modern materials used for door and windows etc. the area is not quite as charming as it once was. The new toilets are a vast improvement.

Fjord Restaurant is the same yet very different, if that makes sense! The exterior is just a beautiful as it once was; and the interior still contains a lot of wood, a large staircase when you first enter and walls lavishly decorated in portraits, maps and other theming objects. The servery has been moved further left and completely re-worked for the better. There is now a seperate bar inside where you can get a beer or a coffee. It does feel more modern inside, it is not quite as authentic and cosy, but it is still a delightful place to enjoy a delicious meal. I had the buttermilk chicken which was fantastic!

Then there is the bonus new ride - Snorri Touren. What a delight it is! It's fairly small with a very well themed queue line featuring some amusing drawings by the adorable Snorri. Don't troll the trolls! The ride itself features high quality theming projects and screen integration. The small simulator section does not really work and you can tell that it is been put in as an experiment. Overall it is a great new addition to the park, it has a very catch soundtrack and is popular with the kids. Bravo!

I think it’s interesting you say the area is not quite as charming as it once was. We felt the same, but it’s difficult to articulate exactly why. Whilst the themeing is great, I felt there’s a certain slight cartoon-y element to it. It’s a style that has permeated quite a lot of EP’s more recent themeing projects to one extent or another. The style fits in places, but it’s probably more noticeable in Scandinavia because you have the original to draw comparison from.

It’ll be interesting to see if the work in the Netherlands has the same feel.

For me the reason it felt less charming was simply down to the slightly larger scale of the buildings and the much more modern doors/windows etc. as opposed to little old wooded doors. I can't say that I saw a cartoon-y element to the new Scandinavia, apart from Snorri of course.

Watching that video it does make me appropriate the ride and theming and shows it is a really cute ride.

Just watching it, a really interesting perspective on how the magic happened.:)
Another interesting thing is the narrator of that video is the same one who did the IMAdiary video for IMAscore.
