Really? You'd really rather have to queue 70 minutes (or whatever the queue time is) whilst watching empty seats go round than have a single rider queue to use? How is that better?

If you don't know about the SRQ, then you're still waiting the 70 minutes. So it needs advertising.

If it's being run poorly, then you have to consider if it's really worth the hassle of organising it for a select few people.

It's not really being 'organised' though, it's just an empty open path that you follow until you get to the chain in the station. There is no merge point or anything like that. The ride host just sees you and pulls a chain up and lets you jump into an empty seat. It's not exactly a massive hassle to them and it doesn't require any extra staff or expense in any way. Think of it as an extra perk for theme park nerds for their continued loyalty through the dark times post Smiler crash ;)

Theme park Review been reporting that modified boats on the rapids have been testing today with staff

TT/SP Video in link showing modified boats at Thorpe in action, with the water torrent more powerful, so could we be seeing the return of the waterfalls as well as the rapids torrent and waves ramp up to what they use to be?

Really enjoyed visiting the park today.

Seemed busier than I can remember an opening weekend Sunday being before. Hopefully it's quiet tomorrow.

Didn’t ride much on Saturday but general impression of the park was ok. Things looked relatively tidy and the monorail station looks better than I expected. Few thoughts:

1 - appreciating the sensitivity of the subject but they need to do something about the Ride access pass. The queue for picking them up was huge and I’m sorry but it’s incredibly clear that people are abusing it which makes me feel angry for those who genuinely need it. That’s before the impact those abusing it have on the rest of the guests.

2 - There is clearly a lack of experienced tech services staff at the park. Enterprise and Rapids not ready for start of season, oblivion on reduced capacity with no apparent reason (plenty of staff in), Wickerman on 2 trains. It’s clear the team who remain cannot get through the work needed on their current numbers.

3 - Dungeons looked ok from outside, was amusing how many people where giving away the complimentary tickets yet no one wanted to take them off their hands. If as rumoured this is a temporary attraction then I have no major problem with it.

4 - operations were a bit ropey, this is to be expected on opening weekend. Will see how things progress through the season.

5 - Duel is in a right state.

6 - lack of support attractions is really starting to bite now guest numbers are getting higher. I doubt Merlin will do anything as they have already stated they are cutting park capex but you really feel like there isn’t much to do other than roller coasters.

1. They need to introduce q smart using photo rap cards as basically unlimited Disney style fast pass for a year , it will help reduce queues at the RBO and reduce abuse at rides.
I suspect Thorpe park with barcode rap ID's may be planning on doing this later this year

Which is disappointing to hear, have they done anything to it over closed season?
I feel as though they missed their one chance to turn Duel around, it was half in the right direction and I think a lot of work went into it, but half misled.
More money should have been focussed on lighting and audio rather than TVs and 's t r o b i n g'
An ideally a much bigger budget overall! Why did Hex get a whole new sound system again when Duel was the one that needed it?
