I'm not saying that Nash should be removed; there's good historical reason why it's there and I would be devastated to see it removed! I also know that there are many who like it, but it just wasn't really for me.

Now that the mouse is gone, I kind of wouldn't be that upset if they took out Grand National PROVIDED something fantastic went in that spot. (preferably a racing RMC installation)
 
I don’t really get the hate for Grand National, I really enjoyed it when I went to the Pleasure Beach for the first time in April. It’s a fun ride, and I don’t think it would be anywhere near as entertaining if it wasn’t for the joltiness. It was probably one of my favourite rides at Pleasure Beach to be honest. IMO Big Dipper was just as “bad” in terms of roughness, but wasn’t anywhere near as fun to ride because the layout just wasn’t as good.

But I didn't find wild mouse rough, it was of course wild but you could anticipate the lateral movements. Nash is just uncomfortable throughout and the double dips are painful.

Maybe I am getting too old but if you stuck a member off staff on the exit of nash with a clipboard asking riders to give there opinion, a large majority wouldn't give a very favourable response, and to me that is a major problem for the park.

I know nash is historic and a rare example of that type of ride, but the park have already set a precedent by removing wild mouse which was even more historic in my opinion.

Nash needs to go or have lots of work doing. It's just not a good advert for the park as it currently rides.

Has anything been installed in Mouse's old spot yet? I remember that area being rather deppressing last yaer.
 
Realistically the steeple chase is the next ride to go in my opinion that’s a health and safety law suit waiting to happen in this current day and age

Nothing in the mouse spot... and the steeplechase isnt going anywhere, the space is useless for anything else with the other rides around it, and it is a very popular, unique family ride.
It has a very good h&s record, only idiots go round no handed.

Aren't they planning to upgrade it to the new S&S prototype cars? They were going to to the launched shuttle loop first but Nick Thompson asked them to do the Steeplechase.
 
I'm half expecting the next new coaster at Pleasure Beach to coincide with Steeplechase closing. Not in terms of using the same space, but I don't think PB like it and they'll see something new as an opportunity to mask the closure of yet another historic coaster (or "problem area" as they would call it).

Regarding Grand National, I've only ever had one ride on it that I'd class as too rough and I think that was due to a wheel issue. It's very raucous and intense, but I honestly do not believe it is a rough coaster even in the back row. It would be better with the old trains back though, definitely.

Nash gave me serous neck pain last year when I went on it for the first time, felt like my spine was being compressed and forced into my skull which was a shame as I could see the layout was great.

Dippy on the other hand was great fun and intense and didn't cause the same issues
 
Jeez guys, some of you want Nash to go and now we have 2 votes for Steeplechase to go? How about they just throw all their heritage out the window and have a bunch of glorified pop up rides that get moved on every few years like Flamingoland? They’re not gonna close Steeple after going to the effort of weaving Icon through it.

You’d have to be an absolute buffoon of the highest order to do something stupid enough to fall out of a Steeplechase horse. The staff do the seatbelts up nice and tight, and big signs clearly state not to adjust them after leaving the station. Anyone else want to suggest another classic ride to remove whilst we’re on a roll? The only coaster I wouldn’t miss one bit is Infusion. The classics shouldn’t be touched
 
I certainly don't want any of the historical rides removed; even though some of them aren't to my personal taste, many people like them and there's a good reason why they are there, in my opinion! Without them, Blackpool wouldn't be Blackpool!

As much as I would love a park filled with shiny, modern coasters, Blackpool is a very unique sort of park where its heritage is part of its appeal, if you get what I mean. There are many places worldwide where you can go to ride a Mack launch coaster, an S&S shot tower or a Vekoma SLC. But there are few places left where you can experience a wooden mobius loop coaster, a classic steeplechase coaster or a vintage ghost train, amongst others. These older attractions might not be to everyone's taste (including, in some cases, my own), but to me, these vintage rides are part of the fabric of Blackpool Pleasure Beach; without them, the park wouldn't be what it is today, and they wouldn't have been able to build wonderful new rides like Icon and become the park they are today.

There are many new parks being built worldwide at right this moment. There's a good chance that a substantial percentage of them have some sort of multi-launcher or similar modern, shiny coaster type; something like Icon. Maybe some even have multiple. However, I'd imagine that none of them have attractions like Grand National, Big Dipper, Steeplechase or even the Big One, to name just a few. Blackpool have some genuinely unique attractions within the park, and I personally think that going forward, it would be worth trying to treasure all of these more unique attractions as well as building new ones, because while my personal preference leans towards the newer rides, as my top 10 might imply, there's nothing in the world quite like some of the attractions at BPB. If I owned Blackpool Pleasure Beach, I agree with @Dipper_Dave in saying that the only coaster I would personally choose to remove from the park is Infusion, even though I wasn't personally a fan of some of the other coasters. My reason for this is because the other coasters are unique to the park, whereas with Infusion, you can find 26 others with the same layout worldwide, and that's excluding all of the bonus helix models, Shenlins and custom SLCs.

So what I'm essentially trying to say before I ramble on for too long is that even though not all of them are to my personal taste, Blackpool should try and preserve some of their more unique attractions, in my opinion. BPB really is one of the most unique theme parks in the world, if you ask me, and I think the older rides are a large part of what make it so unique.
 
The way to preserve Nash was not letting Kumbak get their grubby mitts on it...

I mean they ruined Bakken's one as well, somehow worse than what they did to Nash...

They don't have to remove it, just get in someone who actually knows how to make a wooden coaster rideable and operate sensibly...

As for Steeplechase, get that new version S&S revealed at IAAPA last year... Job done...

I fully agree that they shouldn't be touched, I just have a gut feeling that PB will do that with Steeple.

The historic rides are the only real thing that sets the place apart from other parks, if they replaced them all with modern rides what would make Pleasure Beach different from anywhere else?

You would have had to be a buffoon to fall or nearly fall out of Mouse but look what happened with that...
 
Is Steeplechase actually fun? I think not, but there are a lot of people that do. In any case the land freed up would be hard to work with, so I don't know what they could replace it with. In anycase, I dislike Steeplechase but I would be gutted to see it go.

On another note, I get really really annoyed with the whole 'RMC it' movement. I do think there are some coasters that benefit greatly from it (such as Hurler at Kings Dominion - before RMC the ride was dire), however there are classics that, well, classics and Grand National is one of them. In my opinion, it just needs a lot of TLC to make it great again. And for the record - it should be rough... just not as rough as it is!

I love Steeplechase. Yes I'm one of many people that find the Steeplechase fun and it is also a unique classic ride attraction. I too would be gutted if I was to see it go.
