Disneyland Paris: General Discussion

They can't afford to get rid of the tram tour until the other stuff is ready. Catastrophe Canyon with Mack as the big red truck makes some sense as a quick and cheap retheme for 4 or 5 years whilst the park is rebuilt.

The Autopia cars are generally quite new and hybrids (http://disneylandparis-news.com/lattraction-autopia-passe-en-mode-hybride/), so I doubt they are replacing them in one big swap out, if at all.

I do like this attitude from them. Yeah it's not really great and I doubt a retheme of it to Cars to only last 5 years is gonna be any better, but it is still something for guests to do which has always been an issue with the park since it opened.

Some concept art and plans have been ‘leaked’ for the new Spider-Man attraction coming to WDS.

The building is set to be around twice the size as the Armageddon attraction it replaces.

It appears the ride will be in a similar vein to ToyStory Mania, i.e screens and ‘shooting’ (in this case shooting webs). However as the same ride is also going into California Adventure (a park that already has a ToyStory Mania) it is expected that there will be differences in the technology for this new attraction. The ride vehicles will apparently seat 8 and will involve wearing 3D glasses.

By the looks of that I wouldn't be surprised if it's a Ninjago style ride from Legoland. It'd fit into the idea of Spider Man very well.

It looks like a notable improvement over Armageddon.
The main worry would be capacity... those blueprints suggest a single track, so 1/3rd of the throughput of TSMM in Orlando. The Ninjago comparison might be sensible, as they probably can't risk making it too good with that sort of capacity.

Is there a reason why Paris' version of Tower of Terror hasn't been re-done to Guardians of the Galaxy like at DCA? I thought it was rumoured to be changing too?

Isn't it still getting fixed by the contractor who messed up the exterior surface?
They probably still have some legal need to get the current exterior fixed before they can rip it all off again.

Probably because Paris has more space to put Marvel attractions in without considering a major refurbishment of TotT (unlike California). They are still paying for the IP for Florida so why bother?

I would imagine that when they decide what they are doing to Florida then Paris will probably change at the same time.

Very much hoping that ToT remains for the foreseeable future... really is the pinnacle of DLRP’s offering.

On a different note, anyone know what’s going on with Ratatouille? When I rode yesterday, the 3D glasses collection points were empty, none were being given out, and all projections had been converted to 2D. Did detract from the experience a fair bit.

There was also a scene where one of two projectors was frozen on the first frame, so overall it was a pretty terrible ride. I did report that to offload, who called the op straight away.

That second thing is clearly a technical fault (though sad that it was noticed by me before staff), but the first must be a conscious decision... not a good one.

I believe the machine that cleans the glasses has gone kaput. So it’s switched to 2D whilst they fix it.
Makes sense, though I’m genuinely surprised they only have the one - for such a high-level attraction, I’d expect them to have more than one just as a redundancy.

Also, looks like the poster above was right on render still being fixed on ToT...

I agree, I would also be surprised if they only had one, maybe the back up has gone too?

ToT is just having the thematic touches added now, you can see on that photo where they have done and what is left to do. The actual render repair has all been completed now.

Does anyone know what happened to the old queue line in Space Mountain that used to interact with the ride, so you could see the vehicles flying past as you queued?

I know that they did away with the gallery bit at the top in order to implement the Fast Pass queue, but why have they gotten rid of the normal queue as well?

I went on the ride for the first time in years in December and sincerely hope that this will eventually return to the old De La Terre a la Lune theme, I did Mission 2 once but was on a Fast Pass so I never noticed that the original queue had gone.

The new restraints make the ride so much more pleasurable and I forgot what a good ride it is; but they seriously need to lose that Hyperspace overlay, return it to the original and leave it be. I just cannot fathom why you’d have such a cool queue line and get rid of it in favour of pitch black tunnels.

Wasn't a large part of the reason to minimise light spill into the ride area? I sadly never experienced the original queue, but would imagine that surely having all these windows into the area would somewhat brighten the ride up (even if the queue consisted of low-level lighting).

Completely agree with doing away with the Hyperspace rubbish though - rode it this weekend, and the dilution of the original theme is really sad.

Yep the new restraints work very well. You get some excellent airtime on the back row over the first drop. Looking forward to riding it again on Saturday.

That may well be the reason although in truth I can’t remember it causing any issues - granted you’re going back 15 years since I last rode it!

I really hope it gets sorted at some point. It sad seeing all the original theming there still (you can still see the sign for the de velocitaire thing just before you hit the break run) and obviously all the old Baltimore gun stuff.

I am pretty confident it will get sorted at some stage but hopefully soon.

Disney have finally revealed some more details about the upcoming major expasion of Walt Disney Studios Park:
  • Main construction on the Walt Disney Studios Park expansion is scheduled to begin by the end of this year.
  • Disneyland Paris has revealed new details about the project, with the biggest reveal being that plans include a lake which will become the largest natural stage of the Park.
  • A 3-hectare lake (that’s over 7 acres for us imperial users) is set to become the new leisure hub of Walt Disney Studios Park — and it promises to be impressive.
  • This new iconic hub will feature:
    • Shimmering water with lakeside promenades
    • Beautifully landscaped banks
    • Waterfront restaurants
    • Impressive vistas
  • The lake will also serve as a unique entertainment stage with a 360° viewing area.
  • All around the lake, cutting edge technologies will provide exciting water-based spectacles, complete with fountains, music and lights, special effects that are sure to delight guests.
  • An area inspired by Frozen will become the beacon of the park’s extension, with a re-creation of the famous port of Arendelle at the base of a 40 meter-high mountain (131 feet).
  • Nearby, fans of Star Wars will get to live their own adventure in an area dedicated to a galaxy far, far away.
  • Both areas will be complete experiences, with each featuring not only a major attraction, but a dining location, shops and character encounter opportunities.
  • Finally, similar to Disneyland Park, the development will be complemented by a tall, landscaped berm at the perimeter that will help mitigate potential impact to the neighboring region

It is all set to be completed by 2025.

Good to have some more details at last, but I can't help feel disappointed that both the Star Wars and Frozen lands will only have one ride each. Sure it's going to be two new major rides for the park which is great but a supporting ride or two in each of the areas would have been nice.

I would imagine that the Star Wars ride will be Smuggler's Run and not Rise of the Resistance. The Frozen ride will probably be similar to the one at Epcot.
