Monorail Refurbishment

The thing is, Now a days, You can get windows(Found in many cars) which allow people to see out of, But not let people see into, without sacrificing the view of seeing out the window. (Does that make sense?)

I'd love to know what other super powers you possess.
My family does tell me I have very good eyesight, though, so that may be why I can see through the windows. Also, @Bert2theSpark, are you referring to tinted windows like the ones in limousines?

Oh yeah, Tinted glass.

I can see them doing something quite creative with the monorail trains, For example have them themed to the SW's with Vinyl imagery and tinted coloured glass reflective of that ride's colour scheme. I think it would be quite expensive though...

These days the monorial closely resembles the shambles of what was British Rail in it's later years of operation, before it was sold. Who knows, maybe that is theme they are going for these days. If it is, I have to say it is one of the most acuratly themed rides on the resort.

If we're using British Rail as a comparison then further privatisation of the monorail is imminent.

Soon, rather than being replaced, the aging trains will be be repainted and plastered in corporate logos and put on life support to get another 30 years out them. A charge will be added, the operating company will make a profit but there will be no improvement to the service whatsoever other than the addition of a WH Smith, Pumpkin café and 16 Costa Coffee kiosks at the stations.

Just saw this on Facebook:

Of course I’m questioning the credibility but just wondered if anyone had heard something similar, or had a reason to believe it might be true.

Whatever it is isn't showing up for me...

Someone saying they heard rumours of the monorail closing in the future due to parts shortages. Would baffle me due to the number of trains (surely parts could be cannibalised)
Oh! Interesting... I'm not sure how Towers would cope without the Monorail!

Out of interest, are Von Roll still in business? If they are, I'd presume that parts would be readily available still!

had to ride the monorail last week, first time in years Ive been on it, was shocked how dilapidated it was
o_O how long has it been in this state

I'm amazed the monorail has lasted as long as it has TBH. There were rumours of its closure and a new entrance years ago, then when RCR went in the rumours of a proper FV entrance started up again.

They only really need 5 trains to run the monorail at what passes for full capacity nowadays. Of the original 10, two have been removed from service entirely following crashes, these have almost certainly been stripped of anything vaguely useful. This effectively leaves 3 spare trains, the question is though - how many of the current fleet actually work reliably? I wouldn't be surprised if at least a couple of them are out of commission at any given time, some trains seem to be used far more often than others which suggests there are one or two unreliable or even unusable trains.

We know they have at least 5 trains that are in good enough shape to use regularly, as it often runs that many. The uncertainty lies in how many trains they typically have available of the theoretical 8 and at what point will they decide that the reliability of the entire fleet has become so bad that they can't make enough trains available to justify keeping it running

Trains were originally used at Expo 86 before being purchased by alton towers.

Just as an aside. Co-incidentally I was browsing through some old folders of photo's last night, one of which was one of the behind the scenes tours from quite a few years back. One of the pics I took was of Broome's map of his 'masterplan' for the park which was quite accurate to what ended up being actually implemented but what wasn't realised was the plan for the monorail to actually run far more extensively around and through the different areas of the park. What the park ended up with was only a small part of what had initially been envisaged with regards to the monorail.
