Another quick question for you regulars..... Does anyone have any idea if the front car on 13 has a little more leg room than the cars behind?

Reason I ask is that at what is a very young age for this I had to have a total knee replacement carried out in January 2019. We last visited in April 2019 and I physically couldn't get into the car on 13 which was disappointing but I put it down to the knee still recovering and given time more "bend" would come back. I can get onto everything else except Spinball which I doubt I will ever be able to ride again :( owing to the position your legs are put into and also Wicker Man was agony back in April although I did manage to get into the seat and secure the lap bar I've never wanted a ride over so quick in my whole life !!!!

Hopeful that I can now get back onto 13 especially for Scarefest in the dark but not 100% sure and know I can get on Wicker Man but hopefully be a bit more "comfortable" this time around!!!!

Can you cross your legs? If you can do that in the cars, gives you a lot more room.

Smiler is very hit and miss with effects and I believe most of it depends which techie or op is on that day, as to wherever they’ll be turned on or not. I’ve known this season to have all five effects turned off, then other days they all work perfectly.

As for wicker man the left shoulder fire is very unreliable, it can often work and then stop for hours and then return. Also those TVs on the other side have been off pretty much all season as far as I’m aware.

Same can be said for the mist, sometimes it’s really good and pumping out, other times it’s half arsed or even off.

I crossed my legs on wickerman the other week and it was really uncomfortable on my shins.

I’ve fitted in before, but the bar didn’t go all the way down as I had a pocket full of passes. Gave them to the op and he told me to cross my legs.

I think this is what I had to do on Wicker Man back in April and it was agony to be honest although like I said I managed the most uncomfortable rollercoaster ride of my life!

I do have more bend in my left leg now and yes I can cross my right over my left and "pin" the left leg back despite it being uncomfortable.

As we're there on Thursday I'm hoping the park will be a little quitter so if there's a point there's only a short wait for 13 I'll probably give it a go, if I cant get in, I cant get in and that's life.

I know to about 99% certain that I wont be able to sit on Spinball ever again as the seating position pushes your thighs up and your calf's under so its beyond 110 degree bend which I physically cant do anymore :( and that's a shame as it's my youngest kid (7) favourite ride.

you would think coasters these days would be designed to make them rideable for people with disabilities like yourself

Wouldn't say I was disabled in any way having had a knee replacement, it just means that I cant bend the lower part of my left leg back as far as someone who hasn't had such surgery. The usual full range of motion (in flexion) is around 135deg, whereas I can currently only get to around 106deg following the surgery.

I take your point though, how do people with even less range of motion or more serious ambulant difficulties get on?

It's surely a balancing act though and comprise has to be achieved? Making as many rides accessible to all is undoubtedly important but there is a point where the design and safety considerations of each individual ride mean that some for whatever reason are simply unable to ride.

There are of course rides with maximum height restrictions as well as minimum ones, in fact I'm almost certain Rita and 13 have at around 1.95m or about 6'5" in old money and I know a few folk over that height.

6'8'' guy here, I asked guest services if the height limits were strictly enforced, or if they're more about rider comfort, and I've been told that if you can fit in the ride and the restraints close, then the upper height restriction is more of a guide than a hard limit.

I know that at Chessington they have several rides which have upper height limits at a similar size, 1.96m - Rameses Revenge, Rattlesnake, Vampire and Dragon's Fury - and I rode all of those with very little difficulty. The only one which was a real issue was Rameses Revenge, which was rather painful but still rideable :)

This is unlike at LEGOLAND Billund, where they measured me and wouldn't let me get on Ice Pilots School or the recently refurbished X-Treme Racer, which previously had a height limit of 2m, but had been reduced to 1.95m. Also, at Disneyland Tokyo I couldn't ride Raging Spirits, which is odd because I thought it was identical to Indiana Jones at DLP, which I've ridden with no issues. At Disneyland Tokyo they were amazing about it though, the cast member was really apologetic, gave us a couple of fastpass vouchers AND some free Disneyland lanyards. They do customer service right there!

im so sorry if any offence was caused, I must have misread your previous post

point taken though, how do you compromise on capacity and design

I’m 6’3” and spinball is so uncomfortable.

Not as bad as colossus, mind, as I don’t fit in that at all despite best efforts

Done ever bother queuing for Pandemonium at Drayton. I was some way off fitting at 6’3”.

Shockwave wasn’t much better.

The only rides to have height limits at towers is TH13TEEN and Spinball. I have a tall friend who sometimes rides Spinball fine, but other times gets measured and told he’s too tall to ride. Never usually has any issues on TH13TEEN however.

With the news that next year's premium season pass will include car parking it's actually a real life reduction in cost for me. I went over 10 times this year so this saves me £60 at least!

Nice one Alton!

I'm going to take all the credit for this. I tweeted them a while back asking if they could include car parking in the premium season pass for next year. They said great idea, will pass it on to marketing

And.. tah dah!

That's a really good price for the premium pass. Shame I renewed my Merlin premium a couple of months back as I would have had the Towers premium if parking was included at the time.
