Monorail Refurbishment

Might get a jet wash but with all the holes in it then they may decide against that idea! Pity they dont install a "mono wash" as you pull in or out of the stations, just 3 spinning car wash thingies spraying some water so the trains get a bit of wash as they enter/exit the station.

Kids would love that! It's a shame if it's not had any love this year. Surely the stations could get a new modern upgrade?

*Cough* Air Gates *Cough*
Yes a complete overhaul. Make it in stages if you have to spread the cost (*cough* nemesis *cough*) one station, the second, then trains. It is a terrible first/last† impression.

†Bar the wonderful feeling of being rinsed of more money for parking to pay for local transport / merlin.

Unfortunately that process needed starting 5 years ago, not now.

Or even at the depot.

lol there is one - it clearly doesn’t work though.

As enthusiasts I don’t think some of our demands are realistic, but a clean monorail should be a given.

how much money does the park realistically need to get back to standard?

All major areas need 1-2 flats - £8m
All rides need a clean up / theme fix - £4-5m
Monorail / sky ride modernisation - £1-2m
General clean up - £1m
New dark ride x 2 £25m
Accommodation revamp - £5m

in short the neglect means a £50-60m investment needed just to get us back to standard

It'll be more than that due to the extra flat rides don't run or look after themselves. The problem is in Today's market is that people don't want to spend money, people are cutting back. If towers put extra flat rides in the ticket price would have to go up by a decent amount in my opinion, making it look to the GP not got value for money.

Skyride isn’t in need of much really, monorail refurb would like cost more than £2 million if done properly.

The whole monorail is an embarrassment. It has been left to deteriorate pretty much since the overhaul more than a decade ago.

Remember when:

- there was a wonderful painted mural in the car park station, which was unceremoniously painted over with white emulsion - inexplicable vandalism.

- there used to be regularly updated and often well produced videos and soundtracks in both stations introducing/looking back at your day in the park.

- you were trusted to stand in the loading bays waiting for the next train, like every major public transit system in the world.

- when there was a coherent and enticing commentary and soundtrack on the monorail, rather than either silence or a continual sales patter (why not extend your misery in one of our resort hotels?).

- when you could rely on the monorail being open.

If people love your brand, they'll buy into it. They'll pay premium prices for your hotels, buy your merch and dine in your restaurants.

You're right about current economic uncertainty, but after the General Election, the end date to that will have been brought significantly forward.

Once the dust settles, they will have a clear insight into consumer behaviour. There's plenty of money in the country, it's just a question of in whos pockets it resides.
