Lightwater Valley

Went on it last year. Being tall the restraints weren’t very giving on the shoulders. Only rode it once and couldn’t face going on it backwards.
My family who used to live around Lightwater told me something interesting today. The Ultimate apparently used to be so brutal (not that it isn't now) that apparently the test dummies came back without their heads!

I don’t care whether this is true or not (it probably is), it’s the funniest thing I’ve read all week !

I dropped LWV an email a week ago, they've just got back with this wrt reopening:

Hi Tom

Thank you for your email

We are currently putting together plans of how and when we will be able to open. It is unlikely that we will be open on the 4th, it will more likely be towards the end of July.

As soon as there is an update on our opening dates it will be announced on our website.

Kind Regards

Lightwater Valley

LWV have announced plans for reopening, but before you all rush to book tickets, Ultimate & Raptor Attack will not be opening this year (Apollo too, but no-one cares about that anyway).

Concerning developments given the recent history of the park. Hopefully they'll pull through and the coasters will be back next year.

Nooo :(

On one hand, I want to go and support the park. But on the other, without Ultimate and Raptor Attack I don't think it's worth the expense in getting there.

"For this summer, we have decided to close a number of thrill rides which we feel are more difficult to manage social distancing."

Raptor Attack sure, but I'm not sure why the Ultimate would be hard to maintain social distancing on. Fingers crossed on a successful reopening next year!

I think it’s positive that they have the financial stability to open at all, to be honest, given that some parks like Dreamland aren’t bothering for this season!

I would say that it’s quite concerning actually because lack of ride line up will just mean lack of people actually going.

They are offering a reduced admission rate though which may make them more attractive to families, who probably won't miss the Ultimate or Raptor Attack. I am concerned that they could decide it's not worth reopening the two coasters.

Going to be interesting to see how it all pans out. Fair play to them to reopen tho.

The delayed opening instead of July 4th must be financial, Flambards (owned by same parent company) also isn’t opening until the 18th.

But at least they are opening

The Ultimate is the easiest ride in the park to maintain social distancing on.

The park is clearly in trouble, I see no other explanation.
Operating the easiest rides at a reduced fee with less staff screams cut backs. The park is on its arse one day it might be put out of its misery.
