Six Flags Mexico

Well it appears that there's been a rather serious fire at the park:

Wonder World Web said:
A fire broke out this Sunday, June 8 around 7am in the amusement park Six Flags Mexico.A short circuit was the cause of the fire that completely destroyed the reserve fluff and games gift of the famous Mexican amusement park. If fortunately no injuries have been experienced, the wooden building was completely destroyed following the collapse of the roof, and the total loss of this stock of goods. These are park neighbors who alerted the emergency services, the column of smoke more than 10 meters high is visible for miles. Fifty men of the fire were necessary and a dozen fire engines, eight tankers, from the neighboring cities of Tlalpan and Xochimilco Álvaro Obregón.Despite the proximity, "Medusa Steel Coaster", the new wooden coaster with inversions entirely of wood amusement park which is scheduled to open June 14 (see our article), was not affected. For now, Six Flags Mexico has not made any comment about the fire.It is in the heart of the forest of Tlalpan, in a protected developed in 1982 Six Flags Mexico, park named in his debut Reino Aventura nature reserve. Bought in 1999 by the Six Flags group, it is today one of the largest amusement parks in latin america.

Sorry for the video being in Mexican but there are some pictures.

They're lucky it just missed Medusa!

Looks dull, only a POV I know but the supports as well - it's aesthetically awful IMO.

Seriously TheMan? This is one of the best layouts I've ever seen and the pacing is brilliant. There's about four or five moments of strong air-time (without always resorting to a normal hill, which I appreciate), several over-banks that look fantastic, three inversions that look like they've got good hang-time and all perfectly separated from each other, so it's not just one type of element after the other. This could seriously be one of the best coasters in the world.

I think all RMC coasters look horrible and this one is no exception! I'm not a fan of the inversion off the lift hill, I prefer a nice long drop straight off the lift.

I don't really think this layout is very impressive, especially for an RMC, it just looks like a normal woodie with a few bland inversions thrown in.

Seriously TheMan?

Yes I am actually in this case, I generally like to try and find the virtues of a coaster where possible, but this is one of those rare coasters I really don't like the idea of - it seems to lack something and I am not convinced as yet by these hybrids either.

Of course that's obviously only an opinion from a POV, but I can stand by the aesthetics at least which are absolutely vile.

I'll never understand how RMC's divide opinion so much. How could a thrill ride enthusiast deride a giant steel coaster on wooden supports, with 3 inversions, boatloads of airtime and a fantastically balanced layout?

I think it looks great. The pacing is brilliant and it seems a nice varied ride. Good length as well. Arguably the best looking RMC so far.

:)

Sorry to double post, but here is a good offride video that shows the pacing of the ride well:

That final airtime hill before the turn into the last inversion looks ridicuously good!

:)

Sorry to bump this topic, but 3 years after Medusa Steel Coaster opened, the park announced their next coaster: the very originally named Wonder Woman Coaster! It will be an S&S Free Spin and is opening in 2018. The main reason I posted here is because track has now arrived on site for it!

Sorry for both bumping the thread and double posting, but remember the ride I posted about above? Well, it opened today:
Should be a success for them!

Hopefully I'll make it to Mexico in the not to distant future - I've always wanted to try Bullet and Magnum Force as well

I've seen this posted a couple of times on various facebook pages. It seems however that the Mexican equivalent of April fool's day is today, so the ride probably isn't going anywhere.

I've found out it was a prank for a day known as Day of the Holy Innocents so the equivalent of April's Fool Dayso the ride's definitely not going anywhere because it's only 16 years old and it's a Morgan ride that's younger than a lot of other Morgan rides.
Edit: I see @John has already beat me to it but yh!
