Paultons Park: General Discussion

I think it’s been excellently done and all American programs are made like this to hype them up. The only thing I would have done is remove the opening date as currently they don’t know when the government will allow them to reopen.

Boo to this response.

It's consistent with the Facebook marketing over the last year, its nicely produced, it gives a little bit of backstory and concept that ties the rides and themes together without labouring it, it shows the scale of the rides and an accurate (if anything slightly underplayed) idea of the scale rather than promising something then under delivering, it explicitly shows the age it is marketed at.

It does all the things Merlins marketing machine gets wrong, and the people it attracts will not be underwhelmed.

I get that, my point being is I don’t think its very punchy which I think a TV advert needs to be. To me it would seem better placed on their website or where someone already has some context. I just don’t like it but in the scheme of things it doesn’t really matter :D

Anyway, entirely my opinion, others are welcome to theirs.

Closer to the time they'll have the trimmed down quick ads out I'm sure.

Let them have a fair more enjoyable silly marketing campaign.

I imagine the tv advert will just be the end part which shows the area and rides and that’s about it.

Also it’s confirmed that the music in the ad is from IMAScore, as we know the whole area contains various IMAscore bits.

Glad to see the food and beverage staple of a burger is on sale.

The joys of British theme parks, where all operators seem to assume that all we want to eat are burgers (or maybe a pizza). Heck, even Six Flags have some better offerings, albeit at rip off prices.

It would be nice to see a UK park try something new in terms of better quality food. I can't see it, like. Last time I went to Paultons, the food was very average.

Nice looking place, but will it just be the usual rubbery burgers and soggy fries?

This looks great; I can’t wait for when it opens!

Also, banking on the sincere hope that lockdown has ended by the end of July, I will be visiting Paultons Park for the first ever time this year. My parents found a Premier Inn 0.4 miles away from the park, and we could well end up doing 2 days there. Is there anything you guys would personally recommend at Paultons, or any tips you could offer for a first timer?

I’m definitely hoping to do all of the coasters (at least, all the ones that aren’t aimed at very small children), but is there anything else you’d recommend I keep in mind and give a try?

Things to do at Paultons
Edge
Cobra
Pterosaur
Velociraptor
Storm Chaser (of course)

Generally Paultons doesn't have large queues outside Peppa Pig World which is almost always manic.

Good point, yeah definitely don't forget to try Cyclonator too @Matt N. :)
Don't know how you find rides like it, but this one has two different cycles, one less intense than the other.
I’ll admit I’ve never actually tried a pendulum ride of that style before, but I think it depends on how intense the spinning is. Flat rides are very variable for me; for example, I love things like drop towers and Rush at Thorpe Park, and I didn’t dislike Samurai at Thorpe either, but I didn’t like Air Race at Drayton Manor at all because it was literally the closest I’ve ever come to vomiting after getting off a theme park ride. For those who’ve ridden one of these giant frisbees, what are they like?

I do appreciate all of the tips, though, guys; thank you very much!

I've ridden two, Maelstrom at Drayton and FlipFlop at Mingo (both different models). The former is great, with the cycle being just the right length ( around 90 seconds) and doesn't make me feel queasy at all. I've ridden it quite a few times. The latter on the other hand I've only ridden once as I haven't been back to the park since I first rode it. That one very nearly made me spew, although I think it was just the wind in my face. It's cycle is double that of Maelstrom as well, being around 3 minutes.

I'm not sure how long both cycles of Cyclonator will be, but my tips are sit up straight, just relax, and don't close your eyes (that can actually make you feel worse).

Really don't think you need two days at Paultons. I visited for the first time in August arrived about an hour after the park opened and left after 3pm. Lovely park though.

Should maybe look at heading to the south coast and Clarence Pier one evening after visiting the park. Only an hour away and they have a Wimpys!

Yeah - Paultons is lovely, but it's no criticism to say it's only the one day park. But, depends what you want - if you want to hammer all the rides many times, then 2 days why not. But it's not a resort or anything like it. If you have little children then perhaps you could stretch it out as you could, say, Chessington, but for older folk - probably just the 1.
