Paultons Park: General Discussion

Given the planning permission issues that Cobra and THE! EDGE! had would they actually be able to build more stuff over that area?

A proper log flume would probably be a better shout than a rapids given recent events. Wouldn't be surprised if the next big big thing coincided with a retheme either.

Gravity Group woodie would be a good call for next big coaster, presuming the next one is another kiddie style one (even if they have the two Zierers already).

I forgot that Paultons Park was family owned, it's frankly amazing that there's a family owned park growing so fast with great areas and new coasters. I remember when it was just a small leisure park with a tiny zoo, they've really done amazingly well!
 
I can't see why Tornado Springs would not open when the park does. I'd imagine they must have finished everything by now!

I don't know, the inspiring soundtrack must have taken priority all the resources to end up being such a masterpiece. Might struggle with everything else after such a monumental effort.
 
Although Tornado Springs wasn't due to open until a few weeks after the season did, and not because it isn't ready. I would expect it to open with the park, but they might still want that buffer to get up to speed and encourage repeat visits in one year so would be wary of booking until they confirm.
 
I think the park is just one big coaster away from it being somewhere that adults can visit without kids.

My son is 14 in the summer so I doubt I would visit Poultons again unless they did add another decent coaster, but I wouldn't put it past them the way they have been investing.

Although I think a large scale water ride is what they most need, I'd love them to have a crack at an adult and junior woodie built alongside each other. Like Stampidia and Tomahawk, but good.

A water coaster would be good or a proper permanent log flume. Everyone loves a log flume and its a shame we lost the 2 best flumes in the UK (Blackpool and Towers).

I do feel that Poultons are gradually trying to push up the age range that the park appeals to so it will be very interesting to see where they go next.

Actually three, we lost Logger's Leap as well :( I do agree too that a water coaster would be a great fit, not my preference over a proper log flume though.

Some particularly interesting points raised by Paultons include:
  • A Wild West area roughly half the size of the current Tornado Springs area was originally considered, but this was scrapped as they wanted to look at more thrilling rides that would excite older children and parents, due to already having a strong lineup for young children.
  • Cyclonator, the Zamperla Discovery, has been installed to test the water for potential future thrill rides. So if Cyclonator is popular, the park may possibly add some more thrill rides in the future.
  • Since the theme changed to Tornado Springs, Storm Chaser was always destined to be a Mack spinning coaster, however when the Wild West theme was still planned, a wooden coaster was originally being considered.
  • The 2022 attraction currently being constructed will be a “highly themed” ride aimed at younger children.
  • After this 2022 expansion, Tornado Springs will be considered complete, and the other side of the park (I’m assuming that this is the area by the likes of Cobra and Edge, from the perspective of someone who’s never been to Paultons) will be addressed following the opening of the 2022 attraction.
Some really interesting stuff, don’t you think? Some of that stuff really piques my interest; Paultons is arguably one of the country’s most promising theme parks at the moment, and I frankly can’t wait to see them grow and prosper over the next few years!

Based on the Q&A, I think that’s the plan if my Paultons Park geography is correct!

Do we think that this might come alongside a major new ride or two, or do we think the park might tackle this as merely an area regeneration project?

I’ll admit that the prospect of potential future thrill rides really excited me in that Q&A; I’d love to see Paultons build something more thrilling coaster-wise, and cater for all audiences!

Paultons has such a bright future ahead of them, in my opinion, and I frankly can’t wait to see them flourish; based on the period between 2010 and 2020, I’m incredibly excited to see where they are by 2030!
 
All tickets have now sold out for Paultons Park on the opening day of Tornado Springs on Monday 12th April. According to the park’s twitter page tickets on every day of opening week are close to sell out as well.

I hope there is no delay to the lockdown roadmap and that the park is able to reopen as planned, and I really hope this new area has the same propelling effect on the park as Peppa Pig World had back in 2011. It’s great that they’ve got the new junior coaster expansion to the area already underway for 2022 as well.

In terms of the future, I think we are sure to see a new themed area around Cobra at some point, perhaps with a new E-Ticket ride to accompany it. I’d also not be surprised if they expanded the Lost Kingdom themed area as an interim project beforehand though. What I’d like to see come to the park over the coming years baring in mind the target market would be a Gravity Group family wooden coaster, Mack family launch coaster (Manta), Mack splash battle (Battle Galleons) and a Vekoma mad house or another kind of highly themed dark ride. I would also say a new log flume or rapids ride but I’m unsure how likely these are in the UK H&S wise.

They definitely could do with a few indoor or dark rides in the future but there's no point them building a Splash Battle because they never get used in this country.
 
I'd love to see them try their hand at a steam punk theme for the Cobra/Magma area.

And if we are lucky they will add a woodie in there or maybe a modern rapids ride too to really finish it off.
