when i went in july they had 3 ride hosts on dual station, 2 were doing the second car and the other 1 was doing the front car and also row batching :/

also i recall the smiler staff having harnesses on one of my visits a couple of years back.

Yes since the Smiler crash the staff in the station do also wear harnesses all the time.

As for Oblivion I never get really why they run it on one, unless it’s a proper quiet day, as it only requires a couple more staff, compared to Galactica which requires a lot more staff for two stations. You can always tell looking at ride times when it’s on one station and has a big queue when the rest of the park is fairly quiet.

However with the current staffing issues across the park, that could be the reason it’s only running one station.
 
Wouldn’t the return of SRQs help throughput, in theory, as trains are being filled fully?
Oblivions single rider queue, used to get used a lot if I remember. Thinking back I'm sure my own family used to use it when they went on it to avoid queueing for what was probably the shortest queue in the park anyway. Is oblivion's single rider queue being used at the moment if it is @Ethan 's numbers are really probably not far of correct.

I think it’s only Smiler that has an SRQ at present. I seem to remember all of them getting gradually removed by 2018, and then only Smiler’s returning in 2019.
 
An SRQ of course doesn't really help with "throughput" and if done badly can even slow down the main queue.
Better batching hosts in general and on Oblivion one batcher per shuttle helps a lot more. Filling every seat out the main queue is the best thing to prioritise.

Oblivions was one of the few that remained when the did the single rider purge wasn't it? I do think oblivion should have single rider as it helps with the queues' rather than hinders them like fasttrack.

The only ride with a SRQ is the smiler now unfortunately. I only clocked the amount of trains for the 2 rides in the hour, not the amount of riders per train. Therefore the throughput is more of an approximate estimation. As mentioned there tends to be empty seats a lot of the time so in reality the throughput will be even less. From what I saw today it did seem like Oblivions operations were the slowest. It was a quiet day so it didn't really matter but I can see how Oblivion has been getting 70-80 min queues on busier days if it's being run like that

Off peak days, no pressure, no backlog, fewer managers and supervisors about...more idling.
Absolutely universal in most parks, apart from the odd ride team whipping them through...usually the newest coaster team.
Want to see slow performance...the lads on the National have had it down to a fine art for decades...slow day, slower service.

Spinball also does, but via the exit and only during peak times.

My memory is hazy but why do I have in my head that Oblivion used to eat queues like no other coaster in the park 20 years ago? As far as I remember, you hardly ever stood still in the queue. Even opening year in July I remember queueing through the telescope room and it still not taking very long to get on.

That might be because the throughput was higher back then; the ride’s theoretical throughput is 1,900pph, the highest on park by some margin, so your recollection certainly doesn’t surprise me assuming that certain extenuating factors that exist today didn’t exist back when the ride first opened (e.g. Fastrack)!

I’ll admit that I’m slightly baffled as to what’s lowered the throughput so much in recent years, though, because as much as operations were great on my visit, it certainly wasn’t getting anywhere even close to 1,900pph, even on 2 stations… my two station reading from over the weekend was 885pph, and the staff were working so hard on it, so I’m baffled even trying to ponder how Oblivion could even have gotten anywhere near 1,900pph!

Remember it used to batch people well outside of the station which I have only ever seen happen once a while ago. It never used to have fasttrack and they'd have more staff on it.

Wouldn’t batching outside of the station slow things down? I remember when Nemesis’ airgates were broken and guests were being batched outside the station earlier this year; it lowered the throughput by a solid 25%!

Or are you referring to them batching 2 lots of shuttles at once, with the first lot being in the airgates and the second lot being outside the station?

No it was done into two separate queues' at that funny lighthouse thing in fact I believe years ago it might have even been done before that. This meant there were two batching hosts. One for each station. It meant an airgate was never left empty and I believe it usually had a few trains worth of people in it.

Ah, sorry; I thought you meant a Nemesis early 2021/monorail-type scenario, where guests weren’t allowed onto the platform until the train was empty and ready to load!
 
Christ no! You'd need a calendar to work out the throughput for that!
