As long as the plot is simple enough for the rider to understand such as Wicker Man tells the audience are going to be sacrificed or Oblivion explaining about going vertically without making it too detailed then that's fine enough.

Not saying every coaster should have a pre show though some simple pointers at what a ride's basic theme is would help for example even after all these years I still have no clue what Thirteen's plot is and don't get me started on Rita's one...doesn't make sense in general and how Dark Forest is my least favourite area on the park of how badly it was done and how it hasn't changed since it opened.

I agree with your wider point.

Although I find it interesting how people's perceptions differ... I'll agree that Rita doesn't have an overly strong theme or backstory, but I'd actually say that Thirteen's is conveyed quite well through the indoor queue line and the crypt and such. I actually think Thirteen is reasonably well themed myself.
 
Recent review from Google sums up Efteling

"The park has a lot of fame, but that's about it. Very large but with little diversity, very long waiting times and the decor leaves a lot to be desired. Nor does it justify the relation/quality/price. I've visited much smaller parks, but much more fun. As they say and more fame than anything else."

Rita theme literally makes no sense to anybody!

There's been a lot of nonsense posted on this forum recently but this is certainly high up there.

Especially when your claim of public reviews compared to the UK Merlin parks is untrue based off TripAdvisor.

But I guess emotions are running high tonight.

Thirteen is well themed, if it didn't have the stupid scaffolding theming (at least Hex's scaffolding theming actually works well with the actually theme) to it I'd argue it as one of the best themed attractions on the park thanks to the overgrown plant life making it look better all the time...just a little more to the story would have helped.

Honestly, I'd wish they'd gone for a racing theme to replace Ug Land instead of Dark Forrest for at least then Rita would have finally fitted into an area and I believe this theme was actually considered if I remember well? And speaking of Dark Forest, why do we need two scary forest themes when you already had GW? If you were going to have another woods theme, do a mirror image idea of a Enchanted Village type feel much like the idea of the Oasis theme for Air contrasts with FV or even bring the Steampunk Port Discovery theme to life to replace TWODW which could act as a more warmer view of the future in contrast to X-Sector's feel of the future.

Ranted on a bit than I should have but I had to let it out there.

Just my opinion dude - Efteling where I have spent 6 days (too long) at altogether is massively over rated and has not one ride outside a fairly average indoor coaster to recommend a visit - all three UK parks are far more re rideable and re "visitable"

Plus this is very typical review and my experience

The park has a lot of fame, but that's about it. Very large but with little diversity, very long waiting times and the decor leaves a lot to be desired. Nor does it justify the relation/quality/price. I've visited much smaller parks, but much more fun. As they say and more fame than anything else.
 
Is it just me, or does anyone else sense that this closed season could be one of the toughest ever seen on this forum? With the cumulative debate topics of Duel, Sub-Terra, Project Horizon, and now this one that's erupted about Nemesis, I think there could be a lot of cyclical debate... March can't come soon enough!

I mean no disrespect, but are you high? Objectively, Efteling leaves no stone unturned when it comes to upkeep, theming and storytelling. If you want a thrill park go to Walibi

It's down to so much happening at one in which we haven't seen in years with Nemesis closing, Duel overhaul and possibly a return of Sub Terra and Project Horizon...a lot to debate about for sure and for all those who said 2022 was a boring year for the in terms of new atteactions for the park...be careful what you wish for and now look at us on here.

Another insult - it's just opinions - You are the person who said people should not go to Poland? You probably don't use Twitter, Uber, Snapchat, the telephone network, petrol - all funded by Saudi investment
